What Is Girls Band Cry About?
Girls Band Cry follows the story of Nina Iseri, who moves to the city after dropping out of high school. She ends up meeting Momoka Kawaragi, and the two strike up a connection. With time, the girls decide to form a band and recruit others. Despite facing hardships, the girls keep going and use music to let out their emotions.
Tadashi Hirayama was asked to create a show that would focus on music. He was joined by Jukki Hanada, who decided to create an all-female story as he had previously written stories about idols. Tadashi Hirayama wanted to make a series grounded in reality, which would show the audience how difficult it was to deal with loss. The casting for the anime began in 2021, and it took more than a year to finalize the cast members.
Girls Band Cry released its first PV in December 2023. A second promotional video was released in February 2024, which also confirmed that the series would premiere on April 4, 2024. It had a total of 13 episodes, and most of them received positive reviews from the audience.
