Experience The Sims 1 and 2 once more with The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.
The most special of these has to be the pets that were added in the Unleashed Expansion. These creatures can come in many forms, from the most standard animals to fantasy wonders. The Sims’ wacky charm shines brightly with the pets you can adopt and their unique mechanics add even more silly moments to your virtual life.
Some of the mentioned pets are from other Expansions, but if you own The Sims Legacy Collection, you will have access to every Expansion and do not need to worry about which ones you need.

Iguanas
A Pet Or A Display Piece?
Iguanas are small pets that can be adopted at the Pet Paradise Store in Old Town. These scaley creatures can be placed as an object inside their cage on your lot and can be interacted with to feed it, play with it and clean the cage, which you must make sure to do regularly to keep them alive and happy.
Besides this, there isn’t much else you can do with these as a pet, but your Sim will get happier from interacting with them. Iguanas are a nice pet to have that won’t require much attention to keep both your Sim happy and the pet alive. Unfortunately for the Iguanas, there are just better options for pets that give more reasons to adopt them.

Turtles
Perfect For Lazy Sims
After purchasing a turtle aquarium on your lot, you can visit a pet shop in Old Town to buy a shelled companion. Just like real turtles, there isn’t much you can do with them, but they are still a nice addition to your Sim’s life and are one of the easiest pets to take care of.
If you are looking for a pet that requires very little maintenance from your ignorant hard to keep alive Sim, then look no further than a turtle. The only thing you will need to get your Sim to do is feed the turtle and clean their tank every now and again to keep it alive. We wish taking care of our Sims was this straightforward…

Fish
The Immortal Pets
If you want a nice decorative piece for your Sim’s home that can also act as some company for them, the fish tanks are a great choice. You can choose between four aquariums, each with different designs and prices, and these come with various species of fish that you can take care of.

The Sims 4: All Sim Deaths And How To Cause Them
We take a look at all the deaths in The Sims 4 and find out how to cause them to trigger. For science, obviously.
Fish are the only pet that can live forever without any cheats as long as you feed them enough, so, if you don’t want your Sim to have to deal with the loss of a beloved pet, get them a fish. The goldfish tank requires that you actually purchase the goldfish separately from the pet store, and these can die over time as they are considered actual animals rather than objects.

Birds
Flying Charismatic Pals
These feathered pets can be adopted from the Pet Paradise store and can be kept inside your home, either inside a cage or sat on a perch. Birds add a little bit of extra life and color to your Sim’s life through the variety of designs and helpful features for their owner.
Birds have a range of four different species that you can adopt, ranging from parrots, cockatoos, budgies, and lovebirds. All of them have the unique interaction of being able to improve your Sim’s charisma if you talk to them, which is very useful to build the skill easily.

Guinea Pigs
The Deadliest Lil’ Things
The little pets were added in the Livin’ Large Expansion and are the best of the small pets and can just be bought from Buy Mode on your lot. Guinea pigs have a few interactions that can raise your Sim’s Fun and Social Needs by petting and playing with the small critters.
The Guinea Pig item is found in the Miscellaneous, Other section of Buy Mode rather than the Miscellaneous, Pets section despite being a pet.
You need to be careful with these cute rodents, however, as while being pet they can bite your Sim and if you haven’t been cleaning their cage or taking good care of them, this could cause your Sim to become ill. This can end up killing your Sim if not treated, making guinea pigs one of the two pets that have murderous intentions.

Dragons
Chaotic Fire Breathing Hazards
The most mythical of all the pets are the fantastical dragons featured in the Makin’ Magic Expansion. These can be obtained by going to Vickie Vampiress’ store in Magic Town and purchasing a Dragon Nest for 49 MagiCoins, where you can raise an egg until it hatches into one of three variations of Dragon.
Unlike other pets, the dragons will not be added to your family and will instead be independent and do their own thing. This includes taking care of their Needs, which they typically can manage themselves, but you may still want to feed them treats and give them toys to keep them happy and avoid a dangerous fate for your Sim. They are the coolest pets, and they can even give you some rare ingredients for spells and potion crafting.
Dragons can start fires and potentially kill Sims, so keep this in mind when deciding to buy one. Rasing it with lots of care is extremely important to avoid this and not end up with a bad-tempered dragon.

Cats
Purr-ing Into Your Heart
These little fuzz balls are always some of our favorite parts of any reality. Any game with a cat in it will be ten times more interesting. You can get your Sim a cat by either adopting a stray by befriending it or by visiting a pet shop. Cats are a bit limited in terms of what your Sim can do with them, but they are still precious partners who, if trained properly, can help you with any pest problems.
Cats can help chase off any rabbits and gophers away from any vegetable patches you have and this can be very useful as the only other way to do this is to purchase a Scarecrow and place it nearby. Sadly, these wild animals that attack your garden cannot be adopted without the use of mods, but we are content with our cats.

Dogs
The Best Friend A Sim Could Ask For
Dogs are a Sim’s best friend, no matter the world and no matter the game. These fluffy friends can be found in a variety of breeds and can either be befriended as a stray or adopted from the Pet Paradise store in Old Town. Dogs can be trained, petted, and played with, requiring a lot of maintenance.
Not only are dogs the most complex pet, but they also have a lot of useful functions for your Sim’s lot. For example, if the raccoon, El Bandito, comes to your lot, a dog can chase it away, stopping it from searching and knocking over your trashcan. Dogs can learn and do the most out of any other pet and who can say no to the world’s sweetest faces when a stray enters your lot?
