A reliable gaming insider has said that they’re “in the dark” about whether a Nintendo Direct is going to end up happening in February ahead of the Switch 2‘s full reveal in April.
Even though Nintendo‘s slate of first-party titles in 2025 is looking pretty slim at the moment (with Donkey Kong Country Returns HD being both the biggest and only release so far), that won’t be the case for long. After all, this year marks the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, which is bound to be a massive deal and one we’ve all waited to hear about for so long.

With the full reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 slated for April, that does leave the current Switch with a few challenging months ahead of it. The slim pickings when it comes to games has raised a question as to whether Nintendo is going to bother with its usual Nintendo Direct presentation in February in favour of going all in on the Switch 2.
Don’t Be Sure That Nintendo Will Have A Direct This February
While we’re going to have to wait for Nintendo to confirm whether we can expect a Direct in the near future, the forecast is looking a little bleak as of right now. Over on Twitter, reliable gaming insider NateTheHate (who has seemingly been spot-on with leaks and rumours lately) shared his thoughts on whether a Direct is coming.
When asked about a showcase happening in February, NateTheHate said that he has “nothing to share” and that beyond the rumours talks of a Direct happening this month, he’s not heard anything about when or even if one is going to happen. In another tweet, Nate says that the only event he’s heard about for this month is PlayStation’s rumoured State of Play.
Considering how many things Nate has gotten right over the past few months, it does make it look more unlikely that Nintendo will bother with a Direct this month. It would make sense to have a smaller Direct focusing on games coming to the Switch over the next few months, but with the Switch 2 taking up all the energy in the room, it won’t be a surprise if we don’t get one.
