You can also cut the rent costs by getting a roommate. If you want a social Sim, you can be closer to your neighbors while living in an apartment. You also get to participate in special gatherings that make you feel like a valued member of a smaller community. A total of four families can stay in one, so you can see how they interact well to form meaningful bonds.
How To Rent An Apartment
Your Sims need a place to stay, so you can assign them an apartment while playing in any Neighborhood. To do that, you can select any family and move them into an empty lot in any apartment. You can recognize an apartment with a green building icon hovering over built lots. You also need to pay the rental fee when you move in.
We recommend starting with cheaper places so you can get used to things as a beginner. Make sure to also get a job that can cover the weekly costs of staying in them.
Once you start inhabiting a place, you need to pay the rent every week on Monday; If you think the rent prices are too high, you can have a roommate to make things easier. This partner will split up the rent cost with you. However, you need to be on good terms with them to make sure that their satisfaction level remains high. If they are not satisfied living with you, they will move out.
You can find a roommate by using a computer and choosing the “search for a roommate” option. Another way is by placing an ad for one by using a phone if you don’t own a computer.
How Do Apartments Work
The Apartments house four families at a time, so living in them will make you feel closer to the neighboring families living in the same apartment. You will have no trouble fulfilling your social needs in them, as you will run into other families often. You can also develop a good reputation if you are on good terms with the rest of the tenants.
Some neighbors might act in a problematic manner such as making noise. This makes living in an apartment much more inconvenient.
While living in an apartment, you can add items and furnishings to your place. However, it’s only limited to the lot you are currently living in. If your apartment has a pool, the tenants will share it.
The apartment owner will also visit the house every day to make sure things are maintained well. They will also hold some weekend apartment gatherings which you can attend to bond with your neighbors. Attending these parties is not mandatory, but it lets your Sim be more social.
Services Available In Apartments
There are fewer services available while you are living in the apartment. If you call a service, you will only get the following.

- Adoption Service
- Pet Adoption Service
- Maid
- Butler
You will not have access to the repairman, gardener, and exterminator, and to get repairs done you will need to get in touch with the landlord.
What Is Different In Owning A House
Unlike renting an apartment, you are responsible for managing your own house. You need to get repairs and maintenance done yourself by calling the phone. You will have these services available on the phone, as you don’t have to contact the landlord anymore. While you don’t need to pay rent, you still have bills to take care of. You can also make your very own garden in the yard of your home.
Houses usually cost a lot, and you can view their price if you hover your mouse over them.
You will also be less likely to run into neighbors. However, they will visit you to welcome you into the community and for other miscellaneous reasons. Dealing with problematic neighbors and someone with whom you are on bad terms will be less troublesome.
Living in a house you own is also more convenient if your Sim is shy and doesn’t like to be around people much.
While you are renting a place, you can always move to your own house when you have enough cash. You can do it by using your computer to search for your own place.
