How To Defeat Jamanra, The Risen King

Here are each of the attacks Jamanra, the Risen King will use throughout the fight.

Attack

Description

Notes

Lightning Laser

Jamanra fires a laser from his left hand, dealing lightning damage.

Jamanra’s hand will crackle with yellow-orange energy before he shoots the laser, so keep an eye out for this to know when to dodge.

Double Cut

Jamanra will swing his sword twice, moving toward you with each swing.

Jamanra will raise his sword in the air slightly before using this attack. The first swing is the hardest to avoid, but if you dodge out of the way you can avoid the second swing.

Triple Cut

Jamanra will spin and swing his sword three times in a row, moving toward you with each swing.

This attack is telegraphed by Jamanra pointing his sword at you before he starts slashing. Watch for this tell, then put some distance between you to avoid each cut.

Ball Lightning

Jamanra will create a ball of lightning that slowly moves around the arena.

The ball lightning moves very slowly, but deals a lot of damage if you step in it, so keep an eye on it as you avoid other attacks.

Crater Explosion

A red aura will appear around Jamanra’s head, then he will slowly swing his sword above his head and slam it into the ground, forming a crater. Immediately after, a secondary explosion will begin charging up, with a yellow ring expanding from the crater.

When Jamanra raises his sword, get out of the area to avoid the blast attack, but don’t go too far. Immediately after the blast, run back to Jamanra and stand in the circle to avoid the incoming explosion.

Jamanra will repeat these attacks until he reaches around 35 percent health, at which point he will become untargetable and begin to summon waves of Volatile Scarabs. If you can survive this onslaught of enemies, Jamanra will retreat, and the fight will be over.

Jamanra will deal physical and lightning damage, so boosting your lightning resistance as high as you can will greatly increase your survivability. Of course, altering your whole build around a single boss is a bit overkill, but swapping out Rings and Charms for ones that provide lightning resistance will help out a ton.

Timing is everything for this fight, so the more you practice, the easier it will be to dodge Jamanra’s attacks. If it’s taking too long to kill him, consider leveling up a bit elsewhere or partying up with another player or two.
