Nothing beats the feeling of a good grappling hook. Zipping into the shadows as Batman. Tethering people to helicopters in Just Cause. Flying across the map in seconds in Titanfall 2. The tool is, quite frankly, the best movement option in whatever game you’re playing, as it exemplifies complete freedom to maneuver as you see fit. That’s why I was immediately drawn to Grapples Galore while browsing Steam, as the free-to-play arena shooter has just left early access with a huge new update.
If you’ve played Gang Beasts, Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, or Human Fall Flat, the ragdolling of Grapples Galore will look instantly familiar. Developed by Zoteling, the goal is to win matches against other players by swinging around the map, finding weapons, and eliminating everyone else before they get you first. The free Steam game is complete pandemonium, with everyone darting around trying to take each other out.
While many multiplayer games attach loads of extra mechanics or monetization to the experience, Grapples Galore is pure entertainment. The swinging and ragdolls are physics-based, so you’ll start by uncontrollably flying across the arena, but in no time you’ll become a master capable of taking out anyone in your path.

Zoteling has also dropped a huge Grapples Galore update now that the game is out of Steam Early Access, as they say this “will likely be the last big content update I ever release” for the game. There’s the new Facility map, sniper rifle weapon, ten-player lobbies, an obstacle course game mode, and more general improvements to physics and camera movement. You can even grab some new premium hat or cosmetic packs, alongside a free outfit and gun frog cosmetics.
If Grapples Galore’s free status isn’t enough for you, the Steam user reviews have been glowing since launch. 88% of the 4,500 player ratings like the game, netting it the ‘very positive’ label on Valve’s store. So if you’re looking for a game to while away the hours with friends, give Grapples Galore a shot.
Zoteling has now released Grapples Galore in full on Steam for free, with a handful of premium cosmetic packs available. You can find the game on Valve’s platform here.
