Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has been rightly lauded over the past few days (including by us) for its no-nonsense approach to realism, making it a pretty brutal game that is very reactive to your actions. Video game logic will not work for large parts of the game, and this extends to the people of Bohemia too, who are more than ready to make your life a living hell if you’re not careful.
One such way they can do this is by ratting you out to the local law enforcement if they catch you getting up to any mischief. However, the NPCs of Bohemia aren’t your typical video game NPCs, and actually possess a bit of critical thinking that can make getting away with crimes a bit trickier than in your average RPG, as many fans have found out over the past few days.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Clever NPCs Keep Getting Players Arrested
Earlier this week, a Reddit user called Jattmogger recently shared some grim advice for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 players that want to get away with stealing. They recall their encounter with a random family in Trotsky, which they slaughtered in order to steal all of their belongings for some ill-gotten groschen, but made the critical mistake of not wiping out the entire family.
Jattmogger eventually returned to the village to discover the wife of the carpenter they killed was still alive, and immediately noticed they were wearing her late husband’s gear. This then led to a swift arrest and execution, which is now possible thanks to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s expanded crime system.

If reviewers are worried about helping or hurting a game’s Metacritic score, they’re not doing their job.
Jattmogger’s story then prompted other users to share their encounters with the game’s clever NPCs, such as Totallynotstefan. They reveal that one quest had them attempting to nab a musical instrument from a person, and that they simply asked for it to begin with. After they were rejected, they promptly stole it instead, only for the NPC to immediately accuse him of theft after deducing it was him from the previous conversation.
Stole some clothes as part of a quest, got recognized wearing it, whole town hates me and thinks I’m a thief now.
Superbee392 recalls how they had to hide in a house after the owner spotted their door was open, while Faizetto was arrested a whole three days after they stole a horse, simply because a stable girl managed to catch a glimpse of them fleeing the scene.
Some players have even reportedly been arrested for crimes that nobody saw them commit, simply because they were acting strangely around them before the crime took place. It’s a level of intelligence for NPCs that is extremely impressive, so next time you pinch something from someone, make sure to murder them, their family and everyone they’ve ever known. You know, just to be safe.
