Weapons with Devil Fruits, despite being a bizarre concept, is one of the best ideas introduced to One Piece. Having a bizarre weapon-animal hybrid that can morph into strange shapes and attack enemies on its own is the perfect sort of combination of weird and awesome that One Piece thrives on. Sadly, so far in the series, although a handful of Devil Fruit-infused items exist in the story, only three weapons so far are enhanced with these amazing powers.
Due to this, many fans of the series have constantly searched for any other powerful character in One Piece that could also be wielding one of these unique Devil Fruit weapons. Although most of these ideas are just theories, with the recent reveal of Shamrock’s sword, Cerberus, many fans have once again started scouring the series for any character that could possess a Devil Fruit weapon. This has led some fans to the Red Hair Pirates, who, despite not having Devil Fruits themselves, may have them in some other form, specifically to Benn Beckman and his rifle.

In One Piece, despite sounding like an impossible concept, the impossibly brilliant scientist, Vegapunk, has devised a way to feed Devil Fruits to weapons and inanimate objects. From here, the scientist gave certain objects Zoan Devil Fruits in One Piece, giving them a certain level of sentience and allowing them to morph between the usual Zoan forms. So far, only a handful of weapons have been given Devil Fruits, including Mr. 4’s bazooka, Lassoo, the Spandam’s sword, Funkfreed, and Shamrock’s sword, Cerberus.

From here, some fans have suspected that, despite not using it themselves, some characters of the Red Hair Pirates may be using Devil Fruit-based weapons. An interesting concept that some fans had toyed with is the idea that the Red Hair Pirate, Benn Beckman’s, gun, which he has been shown using in the past, has some sort of Devil Fruit ability as well. Although there is little evidence for this so far, little is known about Beckman as a character overall, making it hard to do anything except theorize about the extent of his abilities. Still, Benn Beckman was able to hold a character like Kizaru at gunpoint on Marineford, and although this may be attributed to Haki, there are other things that Kizaru could have been worried about. Mainly, Beckman’s gun itself.

Still, with the introduction of Cerberus, it seems more likely that a strong character, like Shamrock, may have an incredibly powerful weapon as well to boost their strength. Additionally, Benn Beckman’s rifle would be the first traditional gun with a Devil Fruit, which would be an interesting route to explore.

In the end, the evidence that Benn Beckman could have a Devil Fruit weapon in One Piece is virtually non-existent. However, with One Piece being a series where anything can happen, something like this isn’t outside the realm of possibility. It would be more surprising if the Red Hair Pirates didn’t have some quirk to set them apart from the other Emperors of the Sea in One Piece by the end of the series.
