Heavy spoilers ahead for Red Dead Redemption 2!

Arthur Morgan encounters some really strange folk in Red Dead Redemption 2, and it seems that each state is brimming with more strangers than the last. Despite how much Arthur can have an impact on the lives of these strange people in Red Dead Redemption 2, players should leave a couple of them to time so that John Marston can interact with them years later in 1907.

As the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption 2, Arthur has made some powerful statements that resonate with players.

Once players take control of John Marston in 1907 through Red Dead Redemption 2’s epilogue, there are a few stranger missions that they are going to want to do, so long as they have left them for John instead of completing them as Arthur Morgan.

The Widow of Willard’s Rest – Part 4

Visit Charlotte Balfour to See How Arthur Morgan Saved Her Life

  • Location: Willard’s Rest, South of Roanoke Ridge

If players head to Willard’s Rest in Roanoke Ridge, New Hanover, with Arthur Morgan in Chapter 6, then they will find a crying widow out in the woods on her own, burying her husband. This widow came out to the woods with her husband in search of a quiet life, but with the loss of her husband, she is helpless to hunt and skin animals to survive. Luckily, Arthur Morgan can teach her how to shoot and hunt.

If John Marston returns to Willard’s Rest in 1907, he can find Charlotte Balfour still alive and thriving in her home, where she has become a master hunter. Charlotte’s life is peaceful, and she enjoys the quiet and simplicity of it all, she has nothing but lovely words about Arthur Morgan, the man who saved her life.

The Veteran – Part 4

Take a Trip to O’Creagh’s Run to Share Stories About Arthur and Keep a Fine Horse

  • Location: O’Creagh’s Run, East of Grizzlies East

Arthur Morgan can find Hamish Sinclair, a veteran near O’Creagh’s Run in the Grizzlies East of Ambarino who needs a bit of help due to his horse running off with his prosthetic leg. Helping the veteran shows Arthur’s softer side, and the veteran even invites Arthur to come by sometime so that the two can share stories and go fishing together. The questline is lengthy and wholesome, but players should hold off from visiting the veteran for Part 4.

8 Hidden Areas You Didn’t Know Existed In Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 features plenty of areas still unexplored by most players, from satanic secrets to literal aliens and UFOs.

Part 4 of the quest with John Marston is definitely the way that it should be for most playthroughs, as it sees John visit Hamish thanks to what Arthur had written in his journal. The two share memories of Arthur Morgan, and John even gets to keep Hamish’s stubborn and beautiful horse, Buell at the end of it all.

Arcadia for Amateurs – Part 5

Ensure That Arthur Morgan’s Picture is Immortalized, and Meet His Old Friend

  • Location: Horseshoe Overlook, South of Valentine

If Arthur Morgan is to meet Albert Mason near the South East river of Strawberry, he will find a new form of entertainment with that of a wildlife photographer. Helping Albert Mason is a full-time job, as this is a man who gets into heaps of trouble with animals and nature just for the sake of a photograph.

If Arthur is to help Albert throughout his adventures, then he can leave it after the fourth encounter, where years later, John Marston can find Albert in Horseshoe Overlook. The two share a moment of recognition for Arthur, while John laments on the old camp of the Van der Linde gang. On top of this cutscene-only quest, it ensures that Arthur’s portrait has been taken so players can always see him at the Galerie Laurent in Saint Denis.

4

The Artist’s Way – Part 3

Discover Arthur Morgan’s Portrait at the Galerie Laurent in Saint Denis

  • Location: Building to the East of the Barber in Saint Denis

While all of The Artist’s Way mission can be completed with Arthur, it’s quite nice to see John meet the painter and pervert in his art gallery, where they will not only share a few words about Arthur Morgan, but also get into all sorts of trouble with Charles Châtenay, the Frenchman who can’t seem to stop himself from getting into affairs with women.

8 Hidden Secrets Many Still Haven’t Found In Red Dead Redemption 2

Despite being over 6 years old, there are still many secrets within Red Dead Redemption 2 that most players haven’t found yet.

The 3rd part of his quest is perhaps the most important for John, as it sees him in Saint Denis within the Galerie Laurent, an art gallery within the city where if players have completed the Arcadia for Amateur quests, they will see a portrait of Arthur Morgan so that John can physically see his old friend immortalized, outside of memory.

3

A Better World, A New Friend

Finish Arthur Morgan’s Hunting Requests for a Marston-esque Squirrel

  • Location: Taxidermist House, Strawberry, after completing 5 Hunting Requests

Ms. L. Hobbs seeks hunters to aid in her Wildlife Art Exhibition, where those who provide her with the requested perfect carcasses of small animals will be rewarded with a bit of cash. Arthur Morgan can take up some of these jobs, but he cannot finish all of them due to his illness, so it is best for John Marston to continue his work as the next hunter to help Ms. L. Hobbs.

As such, players who complete all the hunting requests can venture to Ms. L. Hobbs’ small home at the Taxidermist House in Valentine, where she will give John Marston a squirrel statue that can be placed above the fireplace at Beecher’s Hope. It’s a small mission, but a fun one for the collectible, which is often thrown away by Abigail for players to then find it again.

2

The American Inferno, Burnt Out

John Marston Meets Dutch Van der Linde’s Favorite Author

  • Location: East of Upper Montana River in West Elizabeth

John Marston is more of a fighter than a reader, but he will never forget that which was taught by his mentor, Dutch Van der Linde. Dutch loved to read, and one of his favorite authors of literature was Evelyn Miller, a man that John could meet if he ventured West of Blackwater to Tanner’s Reach by the Upper Montana River.

This is a John Marston-exclusive quest, and it’s nice to see John speak to a favorite of his mentor, and this 5-part stranger mission takes John on quite the tale that is worth experiencing in the epilogue section of Red Dead Redemption 2.

1

He’s British, Of Course

Track Down Exotic Animals and Battle a Lion

  • Location: North of Pleasance, Lemoyne

While it is fun to see Arthur interact with a Brit with a cast of exotic animals for their circus, it’s equally fun to see the awkward John Marston try to handle it all by himself. This is a mission that can be saved for John to do, and if that’s the case, players are in for a wacky treat that they might not have seen if they had completed this with Arthur.

John’s handling of animals is always a tad awkward, and facing off against a lion isn’t exactly going to be a fun time for John considering he has a pretty nasty facial scar from the claws of a wolf, so getting fresh ones from a literal lion isn’t for him.
