Zenless Zone Zero Reveals Evelyn’s Signature W-Engine

Zenless Zone Zero has officially revealed the W-Engine for new S-Rank character Evelyn Chevalier, expected to release early next week with Version 1.5’s second half. The newest update to the massively popular urban action RPG has already seen a plethora of new content for fans, from its new characters to a full suite of events. Version 1.5 saw the introduction of Astra Yao to the playable roster as a powerful, versatile Ether Support character, coupled with new story content centered around Astra Yao and a major new Fall Guys-inspired event. Now, Version 1.5’s second character is gearing up for her debut.

The second half of the Version 1.5 update will welcome Evelyn Chevalier, Astra Yao’s personal bodyguard, to Zenless Zone Zero‘s playable roster. Evelyn has been teased as a powerful Fire Attack character, with players already getting the chance to try out Evelyn through Version 1.5’s main story content. Evelyn also plays a major role in Astra Yao’s “Special Episode,” delving more into the dubious background of the starlet’s bodyguard. Zenless Zone Zero is now showing off Evelyn’s signature W-Engine, packing powerful buffs for Fire characters.

Zenless Zone Zero has officially revealed the details for Astra Yao’s signature W-Engine, releasing alongside the character in Version 1.5.

Zenless Zone Zero officially revealed Evelyn’s signature W-Engine, dubbed “Heartstring Nocturne,” on Friday evening with a full breakdown of its abilities. Heartstring Nocturne boasts 713 base ATK with its wearer also receiving a sizable buff to their Crit Rate, up to 24% when fully upgraded to Level 60. Its W-Engine effect grants a 50% buff to Crit DMG, with a stacking “Heartstring” mechanic causing attacks to ignore a portion of the enemy’s Fire RES when entering combat or using Chain Attacks and Ultimates. Evelyn’s signature W-Engine will release alongside the second half of Version 1.5 on February 12.

Heartstring Nocturne

• Base ATK: 713
• Crit Rate: 24%
• W-Engine Effect: String and Melody: Crit DMG increases by 50%. When the equipper enters combat, or activates a Chain Attack or Ultimate, they gain 1 stack of Heartstring. Each stack of Heartstring allows the wearer’s Chain Attack and Ultimate DMG to ignore 12.5% of the target’s Fire RES. This effect can stack up to 3 times and lasts 30 seconds. Repeated triggers reset the duration.

Evelyn’s signature W-Engine could look to be a powerful upgrade for more than just Zenless Zone Zero‘s newest character. Its position as a Crit-focused W-Engine for Fire Attack characters could also look to benefit Version 1.0 S-Rank character Soldier 76, with the W-Engine’s ability being easy to activate. The W-Engine will also look to pair well when its wearer is teamed up with Astra Yao, with the New Eridu starlet buffing Chain Attacks through her gameplay. Aside from its unique ability, the sizable buff to Crit stats could be used by several Attack characters as well.

HoYoverse is looking to have plenty in store for Zenless Zone Zero beyond Evelyn’s release, with teasers already hinting at Version 1.6. Zenless Zone Zero‘s next update will welcome three new characters to the roster with Silver Soldier Anby, Trigger, and Pulchra joining the game. The new characters also suggest that the next update’s story content may center around not only the OBOL Squad, but Anby’s mysterious backstory as well. Fans likely won’t have to wait much longer for a wealth of new content to hit the streets of New Eridu.
