Do You Believe?
Taking to Twitter, Joe Hendry asked his legion of fans to retweet if they wanted him in Fortnite. Within several hours, his post garnered over 5,000 retweets, plus an additional 11,000 in likes.
A wrestling crossover wouldn’t be all too unprecedented in Epic Games‘ free-to-play live-service battle royale. In the past, several WWE stars, including John Cena, Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair, have all made their appearance in the game as skins.
More so, given the recently announced partnership between TNA and WWE, a crossover could easily be worked out. The fruits of that multi-year deal have already been seen, with multiple TNA stars, including Hendry himself, appearing at the Royal Rumble.
To his credit, Hendry’s rise in popularity has been purely organic. His “I Believe In Joe Hendry” theme song was popular enough that it peaked at No. 4 on the UK Singles Downloads Chart and No. 6 on the Singles Sales Chart, ahead of artists like Beyoncé and Sabrina Carpenter.
Even other professional athletes were in on the fun, with New Orleans Saints player Jamaal Williams going viral for singing the song.
Joe Hendry is part of the type of viral moments that video games have been keen on capturing, so perhaps Fortnite will “believe” and add him to the game. His fans certainly hope so.
