Cloak and Dagger are admittedly two of the most popular picks in Marvel Rivals. They have a versatile kit that can output a lot of damage and healing with the flick of a button. Plus, many of their abilities counter other heroes’ ultimates.

However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of other ways to exploit this dynamic duo. You’ll want to primarily focus on diving the two of them in the backline, as they tend to play away from melee combatants, and don’t have that much mobility. With enough patience and the right timing, you can completely master counter picks for this dynamic, yet elusive duo.

Overall, the best way to exploit Cloak and Dagger’s weaknesses is to get up in their melee space.

Outside of their Dark Teleportation ability, there’s not much either of them can do when confronted with an enemy head-on. Neither of them has very much mobility.

While their ultimate ability is powerful, there’s also a key weakness here that’s worth exposing, so long as you get your timing right.

Cloak and Dagger’s movement pattern during their ultimate means they’re stopping and starting every few seconds, leaving them vulnerable.

If you can time your attacks with this movement pattern, you can land devastating hits on them during their ultimate.

If you’re good at playing sharpshooters though, you can also deal devastating one-shot kills to Cloak and Dagger from afar.

Beyond their ultimate, if you play long-range enough, you’ll be far enough away from all of Cloak’s attacks, meaning you can take as many free shots as you want as long as you’ve put some distance between you and them.

How To Counter Cloak And Dagger As A Strategist

If your team is rushing onto the point and attempting to bowl over the enemy team, Mantis has a lot of power over Cloak and Dagger.

For one, Mantis’ damage output can take them out relatively quickly, especially if she’s damage-boosting herself.

Additionally, during Cloak and Dagger’s ultimate, it’s pretty easy to land a sleep spore on them, thus negating their ability.

There’s also two strategists that have ultimates that directly counter Cloak and Dagger’s. Luna Snow’s ultimate will negate any damage done to your team by Cloak and Dagger’s ult, though you may want to save this ability for more high-damage abilities.

You can also use the Invisible Woman’s ultimate to provide extra healing for your team during this ultimate, and also hide your team from incoming follow-up attacks.

When Cloak and Dagger use their ultimate, teams often rush onto the point, knowing they’ll get healing for standing in the AoE. But, if they know they’ll be slowed thanks to the Invisible Woman’s ultimate, they might hesitate.

How To Counter Cloak And Dagger As A Vanguard

For Vanguards, melee-based combatants and divers are ideal for taking out Cloak and Dagger in the backline. Vanguards like Thor or The Hulk are great in this respect.

For Thor, just make sure you have Awakening Rune or Storm Surge ready for your escape before diving into the backline. Thor can very easily take out Cloak and Dagger quickly if the enemy team isn’t paying close attention.

The Hulk is great for this as well, particularly when using his Radioactive Lockdown ability, which can completely immobilize Cloak and Dagger.

Because Cloak and Dagger primarily play backline, the enemy team might not notice that they are immobilized by The Hulk, meaning their healing output will be severely reduced for several seconds, a weakness your team can easily exploit.

Magneto is also very good for countering Cloak and Dagger’s ultimate. As mentioned, internalizing Cloak and Dagger’s movement pattern during their ultimate is key to negating it.

If Magneto has his ultimate, you can land your attack directly on Cloak and Dagger, taking them out of the fight and canceling their ultimate.

How To Counter Cloak And Dagger As A Duelist

The best way to handle Cloak and Dagger as a duelist is to dive them in the backline or run a slight flank against them.

If their Dark Teleportation ability is on cooldown, there’s really nowhere for Cloak and Dagger to go once you’re attacking them.

Just be careful not to get too close, as Cloak and Dagger are most dangerous in melee range, thanks to their Terror Cape ability and Darkforce Cloak primary fire.

This leaves a few great options. Psylocke is always great for backline dives or flanks, as she can take a few shots and then quickly escape if things go south.

If you decide to use Psylocke’s ultimate against Cloak and Dagger, though, just make sure Dark Teleportation is on cooldown.

If you can get a good flank angle, Squirrel Girl and Namor are also pretty good against Cloak and Dagger, as they deal high damage and can escape without ever needing to get too close.

Namor’s Monstro Spawn are also great at a flank angle against backline strategists.

To reduce Cloak and Dagger’s mobility even further, Squirrel Girl’s Squirrel Blockade can also lock this duo in place, unable to even use Dark Teleportation to escape. Fire a few quick follow-up shots after this, and you’ll secure a quick, easy pick.
