Though the titular Talents are what define and empower your characters in the game, the abilities you pick on the talent tree are almost as important. These special talents not only give you important and powerful abilities to help you fight back the denizens of the Demonic Conveyor Belt but also give you buttons to press other than the arrow keys.

13 Best Skill Tree Designs In Video Games
Plenty of games have skill trees nowadays, but the design of these makes them worthy of celebration.
Abilities in Talented are so potent, in fact, that not only are they few and far between, but you can only have four (five with certain talents). This means you’ll have to pick your abilities carefully, lest you end up with a weak kit. So here we have the best ones from most of the classes so you can make an informed decision!
No Alchemist abilities are listed here since the way they handle abilities is far different from the others. Their abilities are constructed from components and modular, with too many permutations to list here.

Vortech Turret
Class |
Archer |
---|---|
Talent Package |
Gadgeteer |
The first hint that this game isn’t the D&D-esque affair that it looks like is when you find that the Archer is not just limited to launching arrows but can also fire off homing missiles to swarm your enemies.
The Vortech Turret is the most efficient dispenser of these missiles, which you can deploy in any given lane. Protect these turrets from your enemies and they’ll send out one every few seconds, which can add up across multiple turrets. While they only do half your normal damage, they do it passively, and unexpended missiles carry over to the next round.

Forge
Class |
Warrior |
---|---|
Talent Package |
Fastball |
The Warrior’s major weakness is its short range. While you do above-average damage initially and the attack penetrates, this still means that you have way less time to react to enemies than the other classes. This problem is compounded if you don’t properly scale up your damage.

10 Best Tower Defense Games On Steam
Set traps and protect your base with these tower defense games.
There are two ways to mitigate this: increasing size, which also increases your reach, or the much better option of flinging weapons in every direction. Forge is the best method to do this since it has a relatively short cooldown, doesn’t cost much rage, and fires in every direction. As a bonus, its Talent Package also adds chainsaws and spears into the mix.
7
Good Boy
Class |
Summoner |
---|---|
Talent Package |
Standard |
Summoner is a fun and powerful class that is hampered by its slow default attack. You can, of course, shore up this weakness in any number of ways: pick up summon speed talents, empower your snails, or even strategically space out your ability casts. However, there’ll always be moments where your abilities are on cooldown and your snails aren’t just cutting in.
You can, in fact, pet the dog. Go ahead and click on him during his uptime.
Good Boy is the best solution to this issue. Not only do you send a decently powerful and adorable doggo down a lane, but it never dies for the duration of the night, instead respawning and attacking the lane once more. As the night continues, you can even cast it in other lanes, giving you further protection.
6
Vortech Shrink Ray
Class |
Archer |
---|---|
Talent Package |
Standard |
In the higher masteries, when the monsters are much beefier, it gets pretty difficult to whittle them down before you’re surrounded on all sides. This is owing to the fact that even if you have a high DPS, killing the monsters one at a time is often not quick enough. Vortech Shrink Ray is the best way to deal with this for the Archer.
While this ability doesn’t outright kill enemies (and actually doubles them), it also makes them way more manageable. Enemies with Shrink are penetrated by shots and have a lot less HP. Even if you double the enemies in the lane, this is still tantamount to clearing it, provided you chase it with an arrow.
5
Guardian Unleashed
Class |
Warrior |
---|---|
Talent Package |
Standard |
Warrior is the class in most danger of being mobbed from all sides, even if you spec into throwing weapons. Your main weapon is still your best source of damage and is what will finish off your enemies towards the later nights.
To survive the onslaught, it helps to spec into Parry, which knocks enemies back. You can get some breathing room and an opportunity to finish them off. Guardian Unleashed further raises your chance of survival since it briefly sets your Parry chance to 100 percent, making you much harder to kill.
You can use this skill to cut down enemies and clear some space or as a bridge to keep you alive between cooldowns. It even works well as a panic button, especially if you specced into increased rage.
4
Surplus
Class |
Bandit |
---|---|
Talent Package |
Online Shopping |
One of the most important things that you should do as the Bandit – especially on higher Masteries – is find as many Talents that increase your shot count. Your shotgun will never be able to hold more than three shots before having to reload, so you should make every one of them count.

If you’re not sure which class to choose in Talented, here’s every one, ranked.
However, even the most skilled players will find themselves out of ammo at the wrong time. Surplus is a great remedy for this since it fires in three directions, knocking back enemies and even outright killing them. It starts out weak but gets more shots with each unique skill you buy at the shop. If you play your cards right, you can accomplish its max shot count in one good shopping spree.
3
Squelchomination
Class |
Summoner |
---|---|
Talent Package |
Gooing Gooing Gone |
These things are often the bane of your existence, not only being quite tough but also dividing into two big slimes when defeated, each one also dividing into two regular slimes upon death. It’s pretty cathartic then to unleash this terror yourself.
By default, it’s slightly less powerful than the ones you encounter, but since it picks up the buffs to your talents, it can get pretty strong. Even if it can’t clear a lane, it will at least stall it. Furthermore, if you picked Replication as your core talent, the lesser blobs will further split into lil’ blobs.
2
Make It Rain
Class |
Bandit |
---|---|
Talent Package |
Standard |
Sometimes, you need more than a moment to catch your breath, and Make it Rain will give you the time you need to figure out what to do next (or at least buy some time before your next cooldown).
This ability fires 12 of your attacks down a lane rapidly while inflicting all enemies on screen with Shocked, stopping them in their tracks for two seconds. If you have picked up plenty of talents that give you extra bullets in your shot, this can throw a lot of damage downrange, clearing out a lane with ease.
1
Lightning Crash
Class |
Wizard |
---|---|
Talent Package |
Standard |
The Wizard has plenty of powerful arcane and elemental abilities to eliminate the enemy hordes, and while none of them are weak or useless, all of them pale in comparison to Lightning Crash. For some reason, this ability is way overtuned.
Not only does it have high ability power scaling, base damage, and penetration, but it also has a pretty short cooldown. Firing this down a lane is almost guaranteed to clear it on all but the later nights on the higher masteries. Even if it doesn’t fry everything in a lane, it doesn’t take much to finish the job.
