One Piece fan theories, especially as the series delves deeper into the Final Saga, are constantly circulating in the community. Now, with the massive lore drop of the Ancient Mural and The Harley Texts in one of One Piece’s newest chapters, fan theories have been more popular than ever before. Right now, it seems as if Oda has nearly given enough information for fans to finally start piecing together the mysteries of the world of One Piece.

One theory in particular sets out to explain how the massive wall of stone, the Red Line, in One Piece actually came to be. While many assumed it was a natural quirk of the One Piece world, this theory may have an alternate solution. Rather than being a natural structure, this theory implies that the Red Line is an artificial construct created by the World Government.

One Piece Is A World Filled With Strange Geography

The Red Line Is A Massive Wall Of Stone

In One Piece, the geography of the world, despite being fairly strange, is relatively simple. The world itself is split into four seas; the North Blue, South Blue, East Blue, and West Blue. Outside these seas, splitting the entire world are two massive territories, the Red Line and One Piece’s Grand Line, that travel completely around the world. As many are well familiar with, the Grand Line is a strip of the sea that runs along the entire planet and is full of strange creatures, weather, and locations.

However, running perpendicular to the Grand Line is a massive wall of stone, called the Red Line. This virtually impenetrable stone wall is home to some interesting locations, including Reverse Mountain, the entrance to the Grand Line, and the capital of the World Government, the Holy City, Mary Geoise. Outside this location, the wall itself is nearly uninhabited, making it simply a large stretch of stone that acts as a natural barrier, separating the four main seas into quadrants.

  • This Theory Explains That The World Government Created The Red Line
  • The Ancient Giants Built The Structure

Despite seeming natural, a theory posted on Reddit by loulou1s explains that the mountain may have been artificially created by the World Nobles themselves in One Piece’s past. In this theory, the poster explains that, after winning a war in the ancient history of One Piece, Imu and the World Government created the Red Lines as both a means of dividing the world to make it easier to contain each nation, and as a way to place the Holy City above everyone else, looking down on those below. Being made out of the remains of blood-soaked land from the aftermath of the first war, this location was dubbed the Red Line.

With the reveal of the Ancient Giants that have been wiped in One Piece’s Elbaf Arc, the theorist believes that these giants were forced to create the Red Line for the World Government.

From here, while creating the Red Line, the giants that were forced to build it eventually died, completing their task, explaining the absence of One Piece’s Ancient Giants in the modern era. However, the theory goes on to explain that if Luffy does eventually destroy the Red Line, another popular theory, he will liberate the souls of those who lost their lives while building the structure.
