Namor is one of the strongest Duelist units in Marvel Rivals who can use his ability to control the seas to crush down his enemies. As such, he can be a troublesome character to deal with since his damage is exceptionally high, and he will shut down all forms of offense very quickly.

Marvel Rivals: Namor Hero Guide
Here’s how to master the motion of the ocean and flood out the opposition with Namor in Marvel Rivals!
This has made him an S-rank pick in Season 1 and very popular in both low and high ranks since he can solo-carry games. If you are frustrated with Namor and looking for ways to counter him, this guide will ensure that you’re ready the next time you face him.
How To Counter Namor
Namor’s biggest strength is his ability to deal a lot of damage with a single hit. He has slow-moving projectiles, but you can shut down most heroes with three hits. This means if the enemy Namor is good at aiming, you’re in for a really difficult time. He can also become invulnerable for a short duration, making it difficult to take him down.
The best way to deal with Namor is playing from a range where he won’t be able to damage you. Namor shines in situations when there’s a lot of chaos and players are grouped up in one place. In such cases, he can deal absurd damage with both his basic attacks and his Ultimate ability. However, if you play from range, Namor loses a lot of his power.
One of the biggest aspects of Namor’s kit is his Aquatic Dominion ability, where he places turrets around the map. It works very similar to Symmetra’s turrents from Overwatch, and it is very annoying especially when trying to capture objectives. However, it is easy to destroy the turrets, and ranged heroes can easily deal with them. Once you destroy the turrets, you can then focus your attacks toward Namor.
Do not play heroes like Spider-Man or Psylocke against Namor as his turrets make it impossible for the former heroes to dive the latter. The Aquatic Dominion ability if used properly deals a lot of damage and most dive heroes will be reduced to half health before they can even reach Namor.
Namor’s Blessing of the Deep ability makes him invincible for a short while, where he covers himself with a water shield and moves very slowly in the air. If you surround him as a team, then he won’t have anywhere to run and will simply end up dead.
If you can’t surround him, the best you can do is bait out the ability by running away when he uses it. This will put the ability on cooldown, thereby making him vulnerable.
Blessing of the Deep has a 15-second cooldown and baiting it out will make Namor vulnerable, thereby opening him to damage.
Finally, Horn of Proteus is also a very powerful ability, that Namor can use to summon a massive creature from the sea and deal massive damage to his enemies. This ability is also valuable if enemies are in close proximity, but anybody playing from a long-range won’t be affected.
You can also counter it by using any hero who can provide bonus HP or shields to tank through the ability, especially for those who will play in close range.
As a final note, don’t fight against Namor in chokepoints and narrow corridors, as he can place his turrets and deal damage very easily to multiple players in a very short duration. Additionally, his Ultimate gains massive value when used in a chokepoint where enemies are grouped up.
Namor also gains attack speed when he gets multiple critical hits, which means being on the move is important so that he can’t get easy hits on your head.
How To Counter Namor As A Strategist
Since playing from range is better against Namor, Mantis works quite well against the former. This is because Mantis’s basic attacks have really good range and she can hit quite hard. Additionally, she can also put Namor to sleep, thereby opening him up for damage.
Additionally, Invisible Woman is also a very good pick against Namor as she can push him away and thereby set him up as a target for the ranged heroes in your team.
You can also use Invisible Woman’s Ultimate ability to either force Namor to play from a distance or get very close where he can get surrounded by your team and taken down. Namor has slow-moving projectiles so he is extremely reliant on good aim. If you cut him off, he won’t be able to find his targets easily.
Luna Snow can also work decently as she provides a lot of bonus health which can tank through Namor’s ultimate ability as well as his spears. However, this only works when her Ultimate ability is active.
How To Counter Namor As A Vanguard
When it comes to Vanguard characters, the best unit you can go for is Magneto as he can absorb everything that Namor tries to throw at you. His Metal and Iron Bulwark abilities can absorb damage and throw it back at Namor using Mag Cannon. Additionally, Magneto’s shield can block Namor’s spears and protect all allies.
Groot can shield his allies against Namor by using his Thornish Wall ability where he can block Namor’s projectiles, especially in chokepoints.
Additionally, you can also use Doctor Strange, as he can shield Namor’s projectiles to protect his allies. In most cases, Vanguards who can shield allies are pretty good, since despite their massive health, tanking Namor directly won’t work irrespective of the scenario.
How To Counter Namor As A Duelist
Duelists are the best counter to Namor with Hela being the number one choice in Season 1. She can hit very hard and use her range to shut down Namor with ease. Moon Knight is also very strong against Namor as he can deal massive damage from a distance and can position himself in areas where it will be difficult for the latter to track.
Iron Man is pretty good against Namor, though he needs to position himself out of Namor’s range and play from far away. If Namor hits Iron Man, the former can shut down the latter very easily. However, a good Iron Man can make it difficult for Namor since
Hawkeye is a decent counter to Namor, but his range has been significantly reduced in Season 1 and your aim needs to be good to be successful. While playing as ranged Duelists, apart from dealing with Namor, it’s also important you take care of his turrets.
Since you have a bird’s eye view of the entire battle zone, it will be easier for you to locate his turrets unlike Vanguards and Strategists who have to play up close. Finally, Squirrel Girl can perform pretty well against Namor, though you’ll have to dodge his projectiles. However, Squirrel Girl can stun Namor with the Squirrel Blockade ability and make him an easy target for both her as well as her team.
