The Nintendo Switch 2 is real, and it’s coming at some point this year. Still, even with that much information, including copious amounts of hardware leaks, it still remains to be seen what games will launch on the Nintendo Switch successor.

As it stands, we do know that there will be a new Mario Kart game. Additionally, Metroid Prime 4 has been confirmed for release later this year. But that’s pretty much it, at least until Nintendo hosts its April 2 presentation.

That said, when the Switch 2 does launch and throughout its life cycle, gamers can expect support from Take-Two, the publisher behind Grand Theft Auto, Borderlands and more.

Take-Two Has Supported Nintendo In The Past

As part of its latest financial earnings report, where Grand Theft Auto 6 was also confirmed for a Fall 2025 release, Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive shared that the company “fully expects” to support the upcoming handheld hybrid console. “We’ve had obviously a long-standing relationship with Nintendo,” Zelnick said. “We’ve supported the platform when it made sense for the individual release.”

Indeed, the Switch has seen a number of Take-Two releases over the years, including multiple NBA 2K and WWE 2K titles, plus Borderlands, as well as Civilization, including the upcoming Civilization 7.

That said, the Switch has not seen a port of perhaps Take-Two’s biggest cash cow, Grand Theft Auto 5. The GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition did release on Switch, so it likely has more to do with hardware limitations as opposed to limitations on the kind of content the Switch can host.

“There was a time when Nintendo platforms were geared at younger audiences, that was reflected in our release schedule,” Zelnick said, referencing Nintendo’s long-running history. “Today, with Switch and potentially with Switch 2, the Switch device can support any audience.”

Ultimately, only time will tell how far that support extends. There’s no doubt the annualized sports titles will be on the console. However, an increase in power does open the lane for some of Take-Two’s more prominent titles, namely GTA.
