Marvel Rivals has done a great job pulling from some of Marvel’s deeper cuts to bring more obscure characters into the spotlight. Characters like Luna Snow and Jeff the Land Shark weren’t the most well-known heroes prior to their inclusion in Marvel Rivals, but they’ve quickly risen to become fan favorites. However, there is a lesser-known Marvel team that has yet to be represented in Marvel Rivals, and they hold massive potential to become unique, beloved characters among players.
While teams like The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, and the X-Men get most of the attention from Marvel fans, the Inhumans are another important group within the Marvel universe. The Inhumans are a race of genetically altered humans created by the Kree to fight the Skrulls before eclipsing their creators in power and becoming abandoned on the isolated island city of Attilan. While many Inhumans now exist thanks to the development of the Terrigen Mist that can unlock the latent Inhuman powers of the human population, there are a few key members of the group that deserve to join Marvel Rivals‘ roster.

Two Marvel Rivals Character Additions Seem Like a Matter of When, Not If
Marvel Rivals boasts an ever-growing roster of playable characters, and two missing heroes seem like inevitable additions at this point.
Marvel Rivals Could Do a Lot With the Inhumans
Inhuman Characters that Should Join Marvel Rivals’ Roster
- Black Bolt
- Medusa
- Maximus
- Crystal
- Lockjaw
As the king of the Inhumans, Black Bolt seems like the obvious choice for a Marvel Rivals representative, and his signature scream could be a powerful ultimate. The queen of the Inhumans, Medusa, would also be a good fit for Marvel Rivals, as the ability to control her prehensile hair could potentially make her a Duelist version of Venom. Black Bolt’s brother and Inhumans villain Maximus could make a great addition to the game’s Strategist roster, as his mind control and psychic manipulation powers could be used to buff teammates and debuff enemies.
Medusa’s sister, Crystal, could have a very diverse Marvel Rivals kit, as her ability to control the four major elements means she can wield water, fire, earth, and air powers. Lockjaw is the Inhuman’s teleporting dog and loyal companion of Crystal, who could potentially be another fan-favorite character like Jeff the Land Shark and boast a kit that could allow him to teleport allies around the map, somewhat like a toned-down version of Doctor Strange’s portal. With so much untapped character potential both mechanically and lore-wise, leaving the Inhumans out of Marvel Rivals would feel like a waste of potential.
Why the Inhumans Are a Perfect Fit for Marvel Rivals
Not only are the Inhumans nearly as ubiquitous as mutants in the Marvel universe, but their unique relationship with Terrigen Mist could make for an interesting gameplay mechanic in Marvel Rivals. Terrigen Mist unlocks the latent Inhuman powers of humans, but it also amplifies the powers of existing Inhumans as well. This reaction to the Terrigen Mist could be the perfect basis for a Team-Up mechanic that allows Inhuman characters to gain a significant buff when on a team with other members of the group, with Black Bolt being the activator given his ability to activate the Terrigen Bomb in the comics.
The Inhumans also have a complicated history with many other Marvel characters that could come into play with Marvel Rivals Team-Ups outside of one another. For example, Crystal’s history of working with The Fantastic Four would lend itself nicely to a Team-Up with Human Torch, and Black Bolt’s status as a member of the Illuminati could give him Team-Ups with other members like Doctor Strange, Mr. Fantastic, and Iron Man. With how far the Inhumans’ relationships with other Marvel characters reach, there would be near limitless possibilities for Team-Ups if members are added to Marvel Rivals in the future.
