Ryslatha’s Coil Ornate Belt is a unique belt that is somewhat undervalued in the Path of Exile 2. Thanks to its relatively common drop rate, it is easier to find than some of the rarer uniques but still requires quite a bit of luck to drop with a good roll.
It is excellent for bleed builds in particular, but its modifier can be a bit confusing to wrap one’s head around, often leading to players not understanding its true value in the meta.

How to Get Ryslatha’s Coil in PoE 2
Ryslatha’s Coil
can be obtained in one of three ways in PoE 2.
- Random drop from enemies
-
Orb of Chance
.
- Trade with other players.
Random Drop
Ryslatha’s Coil starts dropping from Level 31+ enemies, which means it’s possible for it to drop starting from Act 2 of the campaign. Players cannot increase their chances of obtaining this item specifically, but they increase their overall drop rate and rarity of items dropped by investing in gear with the ‘Increased Rarity of Items Found’ stat.
In the endgame, using Precursor Tablets with increased quantity and rarity as well as Atlas skill tree points to increase quantity and rarity are good ways to increase drop rate.
Orb of Chance
You can use an Orb of Chance on a white (Normal) Ornate Belt that has no other modifiers other than its implicit “(10–15)% reduced Charm Charges used” to get a chance to obtain a Ryslatha’s Coil.
The Ornate Belt can be destroyed as a result of using an Orb of Chance.
Trade with Players
The easiest way to obtain a good Ryslatha’s Coil is via the trade site. A perfectly rolled Ryslatha’s Coil can get quite expensive, but a moderately rolled one is easy to find for as low as 20 Exalted Orb
. You can even use a Vaal Orb to gamble with the modifiers to make them better.

Path of Exile 2: How to Get Controlled Metamorphosis Diamond
Controlled Metamorphosis Diamond is a unique Jewel in Path of Exile 2 that serves as a huge upgrade for certain endgame builds. Here’s how to get it.
How Does Ryslatha’s Coil Work in PoE 2
The main reason for getting Ryslatha’s Coil is its modifier: “(30–40)% more maximum Physical Attack Damage”. However, to prevent the item from getting too strong, this modifier is always paired with: “(30–40)% less minimum Physical Attack Damage”. Taken together, these two modifiers make it so that the lower limit of physical attack from a weapon will be lower, and the upper limit of the weapon will be higher. So if a weapon does 100-200 damage, it will instead now do 60-280 if both rolls are 40%. Obviously, having a lower percentage roll on the ‘less minimum physical attack damage will be better, as it will ensure that the lower limit is higher.
Is Ryslatha’s Coil Worth it?
Now, some players might be wondering if using Ryslatha’s Coil is worth it and whether or not the buff + debuff combo cancels each other out. On the surface, it might appear that if both upper and lower limits are changed by the same amount, the average damage would be exactly the same. In practice, that is not the case. Even if you have 40% on both max and min stats, your average DPS will be 5-10% higher. A higher upper limit is more important than a higher lower limit, which makes Ryslatha’s Coil worth it.
To understand why, let’s do a little math.
- If the lower and upper limit of a weapon’s damage is 100-200. The average damage is 150.
- With a Ryslatha’s Coil, assuming both rolls are 40%, this damage becomes 60-280. The average damage is 170.
One reason Ryslatha’s Coil is sometimes a downgrade instead of an upgrade is because of resistances. The belt slot is one of the easiest to get +40% Elemental Resistances on, and many players opt to do so and reserve their other gear for prioritizing damage instead. For these players, using Ryslatha’s Coil requires first obtaining high resistance Rings, Amulets, Body Armor, and Headgear to ensure they hit the 75% res cap without any help from their belt. While this isn’t too much of a pain in Trade League, it’s still something to keep in mind.
Ryslatha’s Coil in Bleed Builds
While Ryslatha’s Coil is a great DPS multiplier for most builds, there are often other, better belts players can use. The true value of Ryslatha’s Coil lies in its use in bleed builds. This is because the only thing Bleed procs care about are the highest rolls of the weapon. When a Bleed is applied to an enemy with a 100 physical attack, and then your next attack hits them with a 50 physical attack, the bleed value will not change. However, if your next attack hits them with a 150 attack, the game will use that 150 bleed and apply it to them with a greater magnitude. So the higher the upper limit of an attack, the bigger the bleed you can inflict with your weapon.
