Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 is a rollercoaster of emotions where the game tells you more about the world than ever before. This chapter of the game focuses a lot on the puzzle aspect, with emphasis on engaging storytelling. It has plenty of content for players to enjoy, and the quality is as great as ever.
Other than the story, one of the ways that the player finds out about the world that they are playing in is through collectibles like notes and video tapes. Tapes in particular are great for lore exploration, as they give detailed accounts by different characters, often conversations between multiple characters, that provide backstory and context for what happened at Playtime Co. The first video tape that players find is directly in their path, meaning you won’t need to go on a side quest to get to it. After getting the objective to Investigate the Control Room, players need to go through a small tutorial that will lead them down to Checkpoint 1A.
There, they can find a purple tape and a player in the room on the left side of the large yellow doors that lead forward. It will give them a small tutorial on how to use the Flare Hand, which can scare away little dolls, burn ropes, and burst combustible material.

Once players progress a little further and reach the train station with some blocked compartments, they can access the second tape in Poppy Playtime Chapter 4. Use the boxes to make your way up to the floating train compartment.
There, grab the key from the puppet sitting in the left corner behind a divider and use it to open the control room. You’ll see a blue tape lying on a shelf on the left side of the room, with a player on the other side.

Once players obtain the red hand in Chapter 4, they will leave the initial prison cell blocks area and enter a large room with some control panels that open the path to the next area. Before initiating the process, players should explore the corridor behind the control panels.
Grab the police medallion from the second door to your left and place it in the slot above the locked door to gain access to the Warden’s Office. From there, you can grab a yellow tape titled Warden Office 8/8/1995. The tape player is also in the same room.
The Doctor

When players initially encounter Yarnaby and drop from the vents to reach a kind of storage area, they will see a black tape right in front of the place where they dropped on a lower shelf.
The player for this tape is on the other side of the fence, but it requires the you to wait until Yarnaby leaves before you can play it. Go to the other side of the room to trigger Yarnaby into leaving, allowing you to play the tape and learn a little about the main villain of the fourth chapter, The Doctor.

After fleeing from Yarnaby, the player goes through another set of vents that lead them into a storage room with rows and rows of file cabinets. There are three rooms in this location.
If the player goes through the middle room, they’ll find a green tape on the lower shelf of the third file cabinet to their right, immediately next to a wall. The player for this tape is located in one of the other rooms in the same area.
’93 Theater Incident

Once the player starts following Doey the Doughman, they will reach a corridor with interrogation rooms on either side. Go past the initial file cabinet, and players will find themselves in front of three doors. Open the middle door to find a yellow tape. The players for this tape is a little further ahead though.
Go through the rest of the area to reach the last corridor in the interrogation room. There, go into the first room to your right. Move the block in the left corner of the room to reveal a small hole leading into the next room. The tape player can be found there.

After players finish the Follow Doey objective, they will have a new objective: get to Safe Haven. Once they solve a small puzzle involving some body bags, a fallen cupboard, and a chain, they can proceed to the next area. There, Kissy and Poppy save the player from being discovered by the Prototype, and ask you to follow them immediately.
However, instead of going along with them, look behind you to see a large shelving unit. A brown tape can be seen on the lowest rung. Once you pick it up, you can play it at a few different points in the game, since its player can be found in the planetary room in the Infirmary section of Safe Haven. This room is located on the left side of the infirmary if the players go towards the hole at the back.

Inside the infirmary in Safe Haven, players can find another tape hidden underneath a bed on the far side of the room. The tape is on the left side underneath the bed, while the player for this tape can be found a little ways behind it on the opposite side.
This tape records a conversation about a construction contractor who expresses his concerns to management regarding the project that he’s been asked to take on, the prison cell block. He wants reassurance that it’s for a good purpose, but all he gets is a reminder of the contract he’s signed and a thinly veiled threat.

Players can go to the Water Waste Plant a few different times, as it is located right outside Safe Haven and can be reached if players go through the large hole at the end of the infirmary. This location contains a tape about someone named Kevin. It is located at the left end of the room (after crossing the bridge) on the lower shelf of a storage cabinet.
The player for this tape is located in the same room, right next to the metal bridge. This tape goes into detail about the concerns of a scientist who thinks Kevin isn’t a suitable subject due to his personality.

The Doctor Awakens

When you are trying to find The Doctor, you will come across a large maze filled with red gas that will suffocate you if you’re not careful. In this maze, there are three operation rooms where the gas cannot reach. The middle room, where you will initially enter, contains a mask that is required to survive in the maze.
If the player goes down the left route, they will reach a room that contains a tape titled “Experiment #1354.” This tape is held by a toy on top of the operating table. To play the tape, the player needs to make their way back to the middle room and then take the right path, leading them into the operation theater with the associated player.

Once players defeat The Doctor, they will find themselves near the end of the game. Instead of going forward and getting the omni-hand, the player should go upstairs using the stairs behind where The Doctor is located. There, they will come across a locked room that needs a specific key card to open.
This key card can be found in the previous area with the large television monsters. To reach it, go back to the main Control Room. From there, take the first right and follow the path using the wire lying on the ground. However, instead of making your way to the left where The Doctor’s brain is located, go a little further forward. Here, you will see two television monsters frozen around a single key card. Pick it up and go back to the room behind The Doctor’s brain to gain access to it. You’ll find a tape and associated player there, as well as a note.

When the player defeats The Doctor, they will be asked by Poppy to go and plant explosives in the foundation. During this quest, players will reach a room where they need to find and plant the explosives. There, you’ll see a cart with a purple hand on it. Grab it and drag it as far as you can into the caves. Then use your electric hand to reach an area above the tunnel which will lead you to a metal platform.
Go forward, and you’ll find a cyan-colored tape on top of a barrel. The associated player for this tape can be found if the player goes to the left side of the platform and uses either of their hands to swing into a room with a broken staircase.
Untitled Tape
Poppy Gets More Than She Bargained For
- Location: First Cave Section During Doey Boss Fight

The Untitled Tape can only be obtained during a very short time frame, so expect to reload from a checkpoint a few times to get a feel for the timing of getting it. When Doey goes berserk and starts chasing after you, you’ll end up in a cave section where you need to run away from Doey. Follow the path in front of you to reach an electrified pond that you can swing over.
Once on the other side of the pond, keep going forward to see a few toys standing in a mine shaft with a small glowing object in it. Use your hand right away to get it, as the mine shaft will collapse when you start getting closer, locking away the tape. You can play this tape in the room you reach right after defeating Doey.

After the Doey boss fight, players need to return to Safe Haven. On the way, they’ll come across a room with stacked movable boxes that the player needs to move to progress further.
You can find a tape left by Doey in this room, as well as a tape player, both of which are present on a table next to the boxes. This tape has an account from Doey, who tells us about his experience as the caretaker of the group, and why he doesn’t leave.
Top Secret
Something’s Off…

After the big reveal, when the player gets back to Safe Haven to find any survivors and survives the proceeding chaos, they will be thrust further below than they’ve ever been before. If you follow the path, you’ll end up in a mysterious underground garden of sorts, which leads to a single room ahead.
Go into the room, and you’ll find yourself trapped with nothing but a single tape and tape player to keep you company. Put the tape into the player to initiate the final scene of Poppy Playtime Chapter 4, ending your journey.
