One thing that’s always unlocked the exact same way are skills. Skill points are earned at a regular click, and the abilities that they give you can make a huge difference in whether a mission ends in success, or whether you need to start from scratch.
How To Earn Skill Points
Earning skills points is easy: you get them for leveling up. Your level is displayed at the top right of your pause menu, just below your username. Every time you level up, you earn one skill point. In order to level up, you’ll need to earn XP.
How To Earn XP
The only thing you’ll need to do to earn XP is work your way through missions. You’ll earn XP for every objective that you complete, both main and side, along with Kill Targets. You also earn XP for simply killing Nazis, which you’re naturally going to do as you complete objectives.
You’ll also earn XP for every other game mode outside the campaign, and in the same way: killing enemies, and completing objectives.
You gain a variable amount of XP for getting kills in certain ways; generally, the more modifiers to your kill, the more XP you’ll earn. Gaining a Ghost Kill alongside a heart shot, for example, will award you more XP than killing a Nazi that already knew you were there, and with a simple body shot. Other things, like distance, Nazi type, and more, will affect XP gains.
How To Apply Skill Points
To apply your hard-earned skills points, pause the game, and navigate to the ‘Skills‘ section at the top left of the screen, between ‘Options’ and ‘Map’.
From there, you’ll be met with the ‘Campaign & Co-Op Skills‘ screen. You can automatically apply skill points by following the button prompt at the bottom of your screen, or you can decide exactly what you’d like to do with those skill points yourself.
While you earn skill points that can be used across every game mode, you’ll need to apply those skill points separately for each mode.
There are three skill trees, each revolving around a different facet of combat. Each tree has nine different skills, making for 27 different skills overall.
