Hogwarts Legacy’s Sequel Has a Homey Way to Introduce New NPCs

Hogwarts Legacy’s sequel could have infinite NPC and quest potential if it leans more heavily on a particularly magical type of character.

When it comes to the four Hogwarts Houses, Slytherin house, with the words ‘Slytherin will help you on your way to greatness,’ says it all. Whether players are ‘officially’ sorted into Slytherin on Pottermore (and possibly even know their patronus), or simply want to enter the Wizarding World as a darker, more manipulative witch or wizard, these are the ways they can play Hogwarts Legacy as a true Slytherin.

Choose To Release Ancient Magic

Be Like Isidora

Embedded into the core elements of the story of Hogwarts Legacy is the protagonist’s connection to Ancient Magic, which is accessible across the world in villages, throughout the coast, and in underground caves. During the battle against the badass goblin Ranrok, Professor Fig asks the protagonist if they intend to either keep the source of Ancient Magic safe and secret, or else experiment and unleash it upon the world like Isidora Morganach did years beforehand.

Even though the player’s decision in this conversation will not have a direct impact, the choice will set in stone how the character intends to proceed in the game. Therefore, as a Slytherin, there is only one logical decision to be made.

Join The Hustle

Get Rich Quick

The protagonist, as the current savior of the Wizarding World, has no spare time to do side quests for other characters purely out of the goodness of their heart. Instead, players should always ask for additional compensation once a chore or quest is completed for the character who asked for their help in the first place.

In the quest Demanding Delivery, for example, when Parry Pippin of J. Pippin’s Potions fame asks players to deliver a batch of Invisibility Potion to Fatimah Lewang in Keenbridge, if the player does not push for more payment, they will only be rewarded 300 Galleons. However, when Pippin is asked for more, as surely it is deserved, 500 Galleons are awarded. After all, a Slytherin would have no patience for a stingy quest-giver.

Support Sebastian No Matter What

A True Slytherin Student

No matter how players choose to approach Hogwarts Legacy, the new fifth-year student they control will make friends with Natsai Onai, a Gryffindor, and Sebastian Sallow, a Slytherin. To play as a proper Slytherin through and through, players need to gravitate towards Sebastian at every opportunity. Agood example of this is when Professor Weasley asks who the player wants to accompany them on the Hogsmeade Village Visit.

Sebastian is, of course, an exceedingly troubled character, driven to near-insanity and dedicating his school life to finding a cure for his sister Ann’s painful goblin-given curse. There are numerous opportunities to call Sebastian out, or to support Omis instead, but if players seriously want to embody the heart of a Slytherin student, then it should be Sebastian all the way. Towards the end of the game, players can also choose to either report Sebastian or not say a word and allow him to stay at Hogwarts.

Steal From The Merpeople

Mer-ky Depths Quest

When exploring Hogwarts, many players often forget to check out the Boathouse. If they don’t, they will never meet Nerida Roberts. Nerida is a Slytherin herself who, together with Imelda Reyes, both became successful green-robed students. Nerida is a passionate supporter of Merpeople rights and, as such, believes that as long as the centaurs and the goblins have a say in the Ministry of Magic, so should the folk living beneath the waves.

In the Mer-Ky Depths quest, at the boathouse, the player meets Nerida, who explains that she has recently left the Merpeople a gift on the edge of the Black Lake. She has now learned that they have returned the favor, but as she cannot swim, she asks the player to dive down to retrieve it. First, tell her she is wasting her time, but then offer to help her anyway. Once players retrieve the Mermish Artefact, they need to tell her that they have decided to keep it. They can then rejoice in out-Slytherining a fellow Slytherin.

Learn The Unforgivable Curses

The Ultimate Slytherin Choice

By far the most Slytherin-esque act in the game, and one which heavily influences the entire Hogwarts Legacy experience, is to consciously decide to learn how to use the three Unforgivable Curses: The Imperius Curse (Imperio), the Cruciatus Curse (Crucio) and the Killing Curse (Avada Kedavra).
