Goku Busts Out His Strongest Transformation vs. Gomah

Dragon Ball DAIMA settled on a nostalgic slow burn for much of the series, but the pace is picking up now that everyone has converged on the First Demon World. Dr. Arinsu and the Majin brothers are primed to seize the other two Demon Realm Dragon Balls, but they may not be the threat Goku and company need to worry about in Episode 17. Supreme Demon King Gomah, now imbued with the magic of the terrifying Tertian Oculus, has completely upended the balance of power in Dragon Ball DAIMA.

Vegeta made quick work of Gomah’s elite Gendarmerie Force in the last episode of DAIMA, and they even managed to rescue baby Dende. With Degesu captured by King Kadan’s forces, Glorio suggested they head for Tamagami Number One and the final Dragon Ball. Of course, that magical wish orb is actually in the possession of Dr. Arinsu. The question of whether Majin Duu is strong enough to defeat Goku or Vegeta has no doubt been swirling around in the minds of fans for some time, but it could end up a mere appetizer for the real final boss. After undergoing a monstrous transformation with the evil Third Eye, Supreme Demon King Gomah may have leapfrogged his way into becoming the most powerful being in Dragon Ball DAIMA.

Dragon Ball DAIMA: Supreme Demon King Gomah vs. Everyone

With the series (or season) finale only a few episodes away, Dragon Ball DAIMA finally closed the distance between Dr. Arinsu and Earth’s heroes. Despite his communications with Arinsu earlier in the series and potential role as a double agent, Glorio either doesn’t know the full extent of her plan or continues to keep up the facade when they all meet in the courtyard by Tamagami Number One in front of Gomah’s palace. Supreme Kai steps forward and tries simply asking if they can use her Dragon Ball to return everyone to their adult bodies, but Arinsu has her own wish in hopes of creating “a stronger, more terrifying Demon Realm.”

She proposes her Majin fight a representative from their side one on one with the winner getting all three Demon Realm Dragon Balls. Kuu thinks he’s up, but Arinsu quickly dashes his hopes and clarifies Majin Duu will be the one fighting. Goku and Vegeta argue back and forth over who gets to fight, but Bulma finally interrupts and insists that it is technically Goku’s turn since Vegeta last fought Tamagami Number Two. The battle between Majin Duu and Goku is, as expected, a fun one.

Goku takes his time adjusting to the unorthodox style of Duu, no doubt thinking back to his battles with Majin Buu and feeling out how his current body fares against this new opponent before finally going Super Saiyan. The evenly matched pair are locked hand to hand with neither ready to budge as Duu begins charging up another beam, but someone fires a purple energy blast that separates them.

Perched on the palace roof just above Tamagami Number One, the newly transformed Supreme Demon King Gomah has finally arrived. Arinsu and Glorio are stunned as Neva explains to the others that Gomah appears to have the Tertian Oculus, a legendary item called the Evil Third Eye believed to have been lost during the reign of Supreme Demon King Abura. Bulma, forever the smartest character in the franchise, quickly recognizes it and asks Hybis where his belt went, but he brushes off the question by saying “one eyeball is just like the next.”

Eager to test his new power, Gomah uses the eye to gather nearby rocks and create a special ring just for their fight. With the ring finished, Vegeta is done waiting and rushes in to attack. Realizing his strikes aren’t making any difference, Vegeta quickly goes Super Saiyan and continues his assault. Goku, in a moment so uncharacteristic that even Bulma is surprised, suggests they all fight together. Goku, Piccolo, Glorio, and Supreme Kai all head into battle to help Vegeta against Gomah.

As their group attack struggles to gain an upperhand, Bulma shouts at Dr. Arinsu to help. While she briefly hesitates, Arinsu soon realizes that Gomah’s new power has changed everything and orders both Majin brothers to join the battle. Even Neva has a trick up his sleeve as he sends Tamagami Number One to fight alongside them. Several coordinated attacks build up to one massive simultaneous blast as the entire group fires on Gomah, but he forms a purple energy barrier that absorbs and reflects a barrage of blasts so powerful it knocks Goku and Vegeta out of their Super Saiyan forms.

A barely conscious Vegeta remembers they have a Demon Realm equivalent for Senzu Beans, but Goku only then realizes his bag of Revive Bugs fell out at some point during the chaos of this battle. The end seems near as Gomah freezes Goku in place before firing a potentially fatal blast, but Majin Duu and Tamagami Number One jump in the way and prevent it from connecting. The pair can’t hold it for long, but Goku isn’t about to waste an opening. With one final push, Goku breaks free of Gomah’s hold and gathers the energy for his strongest transformation. When Duu and the Tamagami finally falter, they slip away as the full force of Gomah’s blast is deflected upon impact with a newly transformed Goku. The Power Pole he’d relied on for much of this series lies buried in the rubble beneath them as the stage is set for Supreme Demon King Gomah vs. Super Saiyan 3 Goku (Mini) in the next episode of Dragon Ball DAIMA.
