Xbox Game Pass subscribers can circle April 9 on their calendars, as that’s the day Commandos: Origins will be joining the service as a day one release. While the new year got off to a relatively slow start for Xbox Game Pass, things have started to pick up significantly for the popular subscription service.
The end of January 2025 saw multiple high profile day one Xbox Game Pass games added to the lineup, including Eternal Strands, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, and Sniper Elite: Resistance. Some games have already been added to Xbox Game Pass across the Standard and Ultimate tiers for February 2025, and soon, subscribers will be able to play the highly-anticipated day one game Avowed. Looking further ahead, April 2025 is shaping up to be a particularly busy month for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

It’s joined by the promising action-adventure game South of Midnight, which has a unique art style inspired by stop-motion animation, and Clair Obsucr: Expedition 33, a fascinating new turn-based RPG that has been turning heads ever since its announcement.
With Commandos: Origins, South of Midnight, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 all confirmed for Xbox Game Pass in April 2025, subscribers have a lot to look forward to that month. 2025 in general has some huge games on the way for Xbox Game Pass, though many are currently without specific release dates. One other 2025 game that does have a date locked down is the highly-anticipated FPS Doom: The Dark Ages, which is scheduled to join the Xbox Game Pass lineup on May 15. Of course, all of these day one games are exclusive to the Ultimate tier of Xbox Game Pass, so subscribers should keep that in mind.
