The Fan Letter To Amazon Puts Across A Compelling Argument For Saving Bosch: Legacy
Patrick Schau is the man behind The Titus Welliver Official Fan Group, and he’s been working hard over the last few months and knocking on doors, as Harry Bosch would say, in an attempt to Save Bosch: Legacy. The latest door he’s been knocking on is the head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, to ask why Bosch: Legacy was canceled, while also raising the case for saving the show. Schau states:
I’m trying to find out exactly why Amazon canceled Bosch: Legacy after the third season wrapped shooting, when the principal cast thought season 4 was scheduled to start shooting in January. There was a time, not long ago, when Amazon considered it their flagship show that was instrumental in getting its streaming service off the ground. During its time on Amazon, going on 10 seasons, it’s been consistently getting 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Instead of virtue signaling like some so-called fans, Patrick Schau is actually directly asking Amazon the most important question. Why did they cancel Bosch: Legacy? Titus Welliver’s pre-cancelation comments revealed that he was hoping to play Harry Bosch in future seasons of Bosch: Legacy, alongside his guest spots in Ballard, and Schau mentions this in his letter to Amazon:
I know the Renee Ballard spin-off starring Maggie Q and based on LAPD detective Mitzi Roberts was originally intended to run and coexist in tandem with Bosch: Legacy. However, that has now changed to Titus Welliver having 3 guest appearances on the spin-off. I read a recent interview that said’ “we’ll have Alan Ritchson, as long as he will play Jack Reacher…hopefully that’s for a really, really, really long time.” I wonder how that compares with Titus Welliver. He has expressed a willingness to play Harry Bosch for years to come. Welliver and his show have been a proven entity with your network, critics and fans alike, so why is Bosch not afforded the same benefits instead of being cut off in its prime?
Schau is right. Titus Welliver wants to keep playing Harry Bosch for years to come, and not just in a supporting role alongside Renee Ballard. Amazon are using Reacher to kill Bosch: Legacy, but Alan Ritchson should get the streamer’s promise to have him play the character for as long as he wants in writing. After all, Amazon misled Titus Welliver on his Ballard contract.

My question to you is: why did this strategy change, and what else can we as fans do to get Amazon Prime Video to change its mind about running both shows? Let Michael Connelly and the other writers and show-runners finish the series the way that it was intended. Even a movie like ‘Jack Ryan’ is getting would be preferable as opposed to just ending it.
Schau and the rest of the fans are doing everything they can to save Bosch: Legacy. Unfortunately, Amazon’s advertising strategy is catered towards a younger demographic and top quality shows like Bosch: Legacy will one day be a thing of the past. Hollywood desperately needs another golden age of television, but it isn’t going to get one at this rate. This is why the Save Bosch: Legacy petition is so important, and more signatures are needed to get Amazon to take notice. Amazon really needs to listen to their subscribers, or they’ll cancel Prime VIdeo after Bosch: Legacy ends this year.
