The Latest Update For Robert Downey Jr Has Been Revealed
There’s currently very little known about the overall storylines behind Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, but details are starting to emerge as the release dates of the films start to edge closer. According to industry insider Alex Perez during a recent Cosmic Circus Q&A, Downey Jr is only going to be returning for these two Avengers movies, and the character isn’t expected to survive beyond that period. On top of that, there is apparently a reason the character has that face, which hints at the fact he will look exactly the same as Tony Stark is going to be addressed.
These are essential nuggets of information regarding the Doctor Doom character, who could debut as early as The Fantastic Four: First Steps, although that is unconfirmed at this juncture. People want to know more about the upcoming Avengers villain, and the fact that Marvel appears to have a clear plan in mind will please people who were worried that this was a rushed idea when the original concept for Kang fell through the cracks.
Addressing Tony Stark Is An Important Situation
Addressing the fact that Downey Jr. plays the role of Doctor Doom will be a crucial part of the first movie as it will be a question of everyone’s mind. Bringing back actors to take on different roles within the MCU makes sense, as there are only so many parts and actors good enough to portray them. However, when the actor in question was the lead star of the entire franchise, it became more complex as many lines ended up being blurred. That’s the case with this casting, which is why people were initially so stunned that Downey Jr would take on the villainous role.
Ensuring that it is addressed and talked about within the movie will help people connect with the character rather than be confused and wonder why he is no longer Iron Man. This is particularly important for those who don’t keep up with every minute detail of the MCU, as they may not understand all the details behind the film from the build-up. The multiverse is expected to play a significant role in Avengers: Doomsday, which is why Doctor Doom looks the same as Iron Man. However, it’s positive to know that it will be talked about and is a plot point, rather than having all the MCU heroes look foolish by pretending not to see.
Not Keeping Doctor Doom In The Long Term Is A Wise Decision
Having Doctor Doom only be used for these two Avengers films is a good idea as Marvel can get back focused on new characters that have no attachment to the past, as this version is clearly going to have. While it might mean Doctor Doom can’t be used for future Fantastic Four movies, there are more than enough villains to use in that world, and it would actually benefit that particular part of the MCU because it will force them to use characters that haven’t been shown in live-action movies before.
Due to Downey Jr.’s charm, Marvel could’ve been easily lured into keeping Doctor Doom around for a more extended period than these two films. The character could’ve been taken on a similar path to Loki, eventually becoming an anti-hero and a fully fledged hero, but that’s not something that people want to see. Downey Jr. served the MCU well and was incredible as Iron Man. However, the idea of him sticking around for the long term isn’t needed right now, as too many other characters need a spotlight.
On top of that, having Doctor Doom only appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars allows those films to feel even more special. They’re two blockbuster movies that are going to get tons of attention, and as previous Avengers films have proven, if done well, they can end up in the history books. Having this character be focused purely on these two movies will enhance the attention on them. Now, all that remains is to see what Downey Jr’s version of Doctor Doom looks like, and people will get to experience that in Avengers: Doomsday in 2026.
