When I’m playing Command and Conquer, whether it’s Red Alert, Tiberian Dawn, or any of the Westwood classics, I find it very easy to be callous – if there’s a Nod base guarded by the dreaded Obelisk, I will happily sacrifice an entire division of infantry soldiers to get past the perimeter fence. Commandos is different. Before Company of Heroes and the Firaxis revival of XCOM, the WW2 RTS made every individual soldier feel indispensable, not just in terms of their combat abilities, but their personalities. 19 years since they last stormed onto PC, Commandos Origins marks the return of the Green Beret, Driver, and crew, and now it has a release date.
