If you grew up during the early 2000s, The Sims 2 is likely a source of many fond memories. With the game’s updated rerelease on modern marketplaces, many fans are seeking to relive the nostalgia. Others might not have played the game as a child but are tuning in to see what they missed.

The Sims 2: All Expansions, Ranked
Second in the series, first in many players’ hearts, The Sims 2 had some fantastic expansions.
Unless you’re the type to spend forever in build mode, you’ll want to create a Sim (or an entire household) before you get started. The Sims 2 has several outfits available for male Sims, but here are a few that deserve special mention.
11
Tank Top And Cargo Shorts
Sun’s Out, Guns Out
Tattoos wouldn’t make an appearance in The Sims’ character creation mode until The Sims 3. However, a few outfit presets in The Sims 2 came with tattoos, which made things really awkward when Sims would change into a different outfit and lose all their ink.
There are about a million different character types you can make with this outfit, which goes to show you how indispensable a tank top and cargo shorts are to casual masculine attire. You can even ditch the tank top entirely and have your Sims go shirtless if you so desire.
10
Goth T-Shirt And Jeans
Casual Wear For The Casual Goth
Being a goth doesn’t mean you’re always being dramatic about your appearance. Most days, it’s a simple band T-shirt and some black jeans, because that’s what’s comfy and practical. To that end, this spooky T-shirt and the accompanying black jeans are great for any alternative Sims who need a low-effort outfit.
There’s only one variation of this outfit, but it’s versatile enough to work for a variety of different gothy Sims. If you still need more shirts, the custom content community for The Sims 2 is as large and diverse as any other Sims modding community. EA even made its own CAS content editor for The Sims 2, known as the Body Shop.
9
Rocker Jacket And Jeans
Great For Any Aspiring Musician
A T-Shirt and jeans are the foundation of many a great casual outfit, but sometimes such a fit is just too casual. A blazer is essential to many business casual fits. Combine the two, and you have an outfit that’s somewhere between business casual and regular casual.

10 Things From The Sims 2 That Are Still Missing From The Sims 4
The Sims 2 was a delightful entry in the series, so much so that we want to see parts of the game make their way over to The Sims 4.
This is a great outfit for Sims who want to look somewhat polished without looking too buttoned-up. It also has some subtle rocker vibes, making it great for cool artsy types (or Sims who wish they were cool artsy types.)
8
Biker Vest And Jeans
Get Your Patches Ready
The battle vest (or battle jacket) is a wardrobe staple for punks, bikers, metalheads, and other alternative types. The multitude of patches (which are hand-stitched onto the garment) can communicate anything from political statements to band preferences. As such, they’re also easily customizable.
This isn’t an easy garment to translate into The Sims, but Maxis gave us a good start with these outfit presets. Each vest is paired with a simple T-shirt and jeans, because denim on denim never goes out of style. If you’re feeling crafty yourself, you can also use this outfit as a base to create your own vest in the Body Shop.
7
Smoking Jackets
Jackets For The Distinguished Gentleman
Smoking jackets are a piece of old-fashioned formalwear that, sadly, have gone the way of the dodo in the real world. In decades past they were worn by such illustrious personalities as Frank Sinatra and Cary Grant, giving them a glamorous vibe. It’s about time we brought smoking jackets back.
With rich fabrics and bold colors, the smoking jacket screams “I’m fancier than you, but I’m also more relaxed than you’ll ever be.” The Sims 2 provides you with a number of different lengths and colors. They’re available as both everyday outfits and formal attire, so start spamming “motherlode” today.
6
Vest, Shirt, And Pocketwatch
Outfits For The Most Dapper Of Fellows
Sometimes you want to dress somewhat formally, but don’t want to be too formal. Sometimes you need to look like a clerk from the late 1800s or early 1900s. Both of these situations are great for wearing a shirt and vest, but no suit jacket.
This outfit is available for everyday attire for adult male Sims. It even comes with its own handy-dandy pocketwatch, so your Sims will always know how much time they’re wasting. If you want vaguely historical vibes for a dapper-looking Sim, this outfit was made for you.
5
Cool Long Coat
Enter The Matrix
If you asked most people what the Wachowskis’ greatest contribution was to society, they would probably say the Matrix films. This cinematic masterpiece was part of the early 2000s’ cultural zeitgeist and spawned countless parodies and imitators. Exhibit A: this familiar-looking coat.
While The Matrix has become just another piece of early 2000s nostalgia, Neo’s outfit never stopped looking cool. Even if you don’t feel like referencing the movie, your Sim can still look like an action movie hero with this ensemble. Give them the right accessories, and you could probably recreate a number of different anime characters as well.
4
Bomber Jacket And Jeans
Dress Like A Survival Horror Protagonist
There’s no way to avoid saying this: with the right hairstyle and look, you can make your Sim look like a survival horror protagonist from the early 2000s. Seriously, Leon S. Kennedy wore one, and while James Sunderland’s jacket is a bit different, the general silhouette is the same.
Joking aside, this is a great example of masculine casual attire that’s stood the test of time. Such an outfit was considered stylish back in the early 2000s, and while other fits have been left in the dust, nostalgia has brought it back into fashion. It’s a must-have if you just want your Sim to have a low-key casual outfit.
3
Funky Tie And Blazer
Ska’s Not Dead
There are a few assumptions that can be made about the kind of person who wears this outfit. Maybe you’re a theater kid who’s about to have their big break. Maybe you’re in a ska band. The Sim wearing this outfit certainly looks like he’s going to be busting out the trumpets any minute now.
You have the option of one of three different color swatches for this outfit. The purple one is certainly the coolest, but all three have their own funky colored jackets, shirts, and ties. Whatever flavor of loud you want to be, this outfit has your back.
2
Double-Breasted Leather Jacket
A Timeless Classic
Double-breasted jackets look great on just about everyone. They’re meant to make your figure look more imposing and were at the height of fashion in the first half of the 20th century. While trends may have evolved, the crisp look and vintage vibes have made double-breasted coats age like fine wine.
You have a choice of three different color swatches for this outfit, which is available as everyday attire for adult male Sims. It’s a bit surprising that you can’t wear it as outerwear, but never fear: there’s still double-breasted coat action to be seen there as well. Regardless, this is a phenomenal fit.
1
Sweater And Jeans
Stylish Wardrobe Basics
Plenty of the outfits featured on this list call to mind a specific character type. This is great if you have a general idea of what archetype you want your Sims to fit, but sometimes you might not have anything in mind. Sometimes, the next guy you make is just “a guy”.
If you need an outfit that’s as basic as it gets while still looking good, you could do a lot worse than this sweater and jeans. It’s not too exciting, but it still manages to look great. There are three swatches available, enabling you to pick the fit that looks best on your particular “just a guy”.
