Sniper Elite: Resistance puts you in the shoes of Harry Hawker as he tries to navigate France during the Second World War and ensure that the French Resistance can take control of the country. But aside from going all guns blazing during the campaign, Rebellion Developments also throws in optional objectives to add more layers to the gameplay, often requiring stealth and creative methods to take out key figures.

Many of these optional objectives fall in the Kill Challenges category, and if you complete them as instructed, you’ll be rewarded with unique weapons to help you in your resistance. Naturally, some of them are a little more interesting than others, as the majority of campaign missions are accompanied by their respective Kill Challenges.

Mission 5: Devil’s Cauldron

While the majority of Kill Challenges are exciting simply because they break the mold and instruct you to use clever ways to take out your targets, the one that shows up during Devil’s Cauldron does not really have much standing out about it. It doesn’t matter if you end up breaking stealth and getting into a confrontation with Eloi Coste, because even if you do, all you need to do is pick up an LMG called MG42 and make sure that you take out the target using the weapon.

It is easily the most unimaginative Kill Challenge in Sniper Elite: Resistance, but at least it rewards you with a powerful shotgun called the Trench Gun.

Mission 3: Sonderzuge Sabotage

Target: Claude La Ronde

There are multiple ways in which you can approach the Kill Challenge during the third campaign mission in Sniper Elite: Resistance, which makes taking out Claude La Ronde quite memorable. These methods range from finding the perfect vantage point across the river to being even more creative and using a bottle and a fuse box to lure and take out the target.

The final result should just be Claude La Ronde finding himself under a cargo crane and meeting his demise as it falls on top of him, rewarding you with a difficult-to-master rifle called the M.1907. Just make sure the target is in a neutral state and not aggravated by excessive killings all around him so he actually goes under the cargo.

Mission 8: End Of The Line

Given that Sniper Elite: Resistance mainly revolves around sniping, it is not necessarily a surprise that the game includes a Kill Challenge that revolves around making a gas tank explode to take out a target. Coming in the penultimate mission during the campaign, the Kill Challenge tasks you with taking out Hermann Gottschalk with a gas explosion, and thankfully, there are multiple ways to go about doing that to keep things exciting.

The very first Kill Challenge that you will encounter while playing Sniper Elite: Resistance comes during the second campaign mission, and it is quite amusing when the overall context is considered. Enter Philo Beck, a soldier who really enjoys hunting but is going through a bit of a rat problem, so the way he meets his demise, if all goes well, is pretty fitting.

You will need to equip a Rat Bomb to complete this Kill Challenge, sneakily make your way into a restaurant, place the bomb at its designated location, and wait for Beck to try and shoot it, only for it to explode in his face. As a result, you will get the Nagant M1895 revolver to add to your arsenal of weapons.

Target: Ludwig Spiegel

Revenge is a dish best served cold, and the Kill Challenge during the fourth campaign mission in Sniper Elite: Resistance is a perfect example of that. The target for this challenge is Ludwig Spiegel, a sadistic commander who finds joy in throwing his prisoners from a dam, but karma strikes back the moment Harry Hawker enters the scene.

To complete the Kill Challenge, you need to ensure that Spiegel is standing on a specific platform and then shoot at one of the supports to make sure he falls to his demise exactly as his victims did. You can approach the challenge at both long and short range, which will then reward you with the M1 Garand rifle.

Mission 7: Lock, Stock And Barrels

Target: Aldo Riese

Harry Hawker and payback go hand in hand, and that is exactly what he delivers to Aldo Riese, a cruel captain who is fond of poisoning his prisoners and making them go through slow, painful deaths. Showing up during the seventh campaign mission in Sniper Elite: Resistance, this Kill Challenge does not require you to use any of your weapons but instructs you to opt for Riese’s favorite item instead: poison.

The stealth elements during this Kill Challenge are quite enjoyable, as you have to first eavesdrop on a conversation, collect the poison, put it inside Riese’s wine glass, ring a bell to call him over, and wait for him to kill himself by drinking the beverage. It is a satisfying end to a horrible person, rewarding you with an M1918 BAR rifle as a result.

Mission 6: Assault On Fort Rouge

Target: Uwe Schoene

Mission 6 Kill Challenge in Sniper Elite: Resistance.

There is something oddly satisfying about taking out a high-ranked evil doctor who has been responsible for so many deaths and getting to do it in one of the most creative ways makes it even more special. You do not need to shoot a single shot during the entire sequence, as all you require is a coal torpedo to put next to the biologist’s fireplace and wait for him to use it.

After that, you can simply sit back and enjoy the show, as Schoene will fall victim to the fireplace exploding and instantly killing him. You will be rewarded with an SMG called Erma.36, which is just a cherry on top of an already fun Kill Challenge.
