Summary
- The winning cards from Pokemon’s Illustration Contest will be distributed at the Pokemon Center this month.
- Any purchases at the Pokemon Center will qualify from February 21, 2025, while stocks last.
- The code you need to enter to add the cards to your cart will differ depending on where you are in the world.
The Pokemon Company has been inviting fans to submit artwork of their favorite Pokemon for almost 20 years with some fans lucky enough to see their creations turned into real-life cards. Pokemon has confirmed that winning entries from 2024’s contest will be part of a three-pack given away with qualifying purchases at the Pokemon Center starting from February 21, 2025.
Confirmed via a post on Pokemon’s website, the three cards will be included with all purchases starting later this month while supplies last. Big emphasis on the “while supplies last” since, as is the case with anything connected to the Pokemon TCG right now, the Pokemon Center website will almost certainly be inundated with people placing orders as soon as the promotion goes live.

Unlike previous Pokemon promos, the cards won’t simply appear in your cart once you’re ready to checkout. You will need to enter the code draw2024us. That code will differ depending on where you are in the world – it’s draw2024uk in the UK, for example. PokeBeach has also noted the cards might be available at GameStop and Best Buy too, although buying them there will likely come with the added hurdle of needing to spend at least $15 on Pokemon products to get them.
Pokemon’s Illustration Contest-Winning Cards Will Be Free Gifts Later This Month
Any Purchase At The Pokemon Center Will Qualify
As for which cards you’re going to get, the headliner, and the overall winner of Pokemon’s 2024 Illustration Contest, is Kazuki Minami’s Pikachu. Minami drew the world’s most famous Pokemon sitting on a wall while it stretches and yawns. The Pikachu card will be packed with Acorviart’s Feraligatr which took home the top prize in the Standard Card Illustration category, and a Toxtricity ex drawn by Anderson which was deemed to be the Best ex Illustration at 2024’s competition.
It’s nice to have a chance to celebrate these fantastic fan creations after 2024’s Illustration Contest was marred somewhat by entrants submitting AI-generated artwork. Pokemon was criticized after revealing the final 300 entries that made it into the quarter-finals with six of them seemingly created using the help of AI, and potentially even submitted by the same person going by a slightly different name each time.
Pokemon took the accusations seriously and revealed shortly after they were made that the offending entries had been removed from contention. Hopefully a closer eye will be kept on all entries made in this year’s contest. As for last year’s winners, keep an eye out for the three-pack at the Pokemon Center and other participating retailers starting from February 21.
