Grand Theft Auto 6 on the Nintendo Switch 2 could very well be a possibility, at least that’s according to Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick. The parent company of Rockstar Games recently held a new quarterly earnings call to discuss the company’s latest takings and the many projects it has in the pipeline, but Zelnick surprised fans by briefly discussing the Nintendo Switch 2, revealing that he “fully expects” Take-Two titles to make their way to the new console.
The Nintendo Switch 2 might not have a release date just yet, but fans finally got an official look at the console on January 16 after months and months of leaks and rumors. The full reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 showcased its larger screen, new dock, and what appear to be magnetic Joy-Cons, as well as confirming that a special Nintendo Direct showcase for the Switch 2 will take place on April 2, 2025. The successor to the hugely successful Nintendo Switch is set to launch sometime in 2025, with fans eager to see which games will make their way to the platform. Nintendo did seemingly tease a new entry in the Mario Kart series during the reveal, but it looks like even titles like Grand Theft Auto 6 could be released on the platform.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Could Come to the Nintendo Switch 2
During a new quarterly earnings call on February 6, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick briefly discussed Nintendo’s next console (thanks, Eurogamer) and said that he “fully expects” Take-Two to support the Switch 2. Zelnick explained that the studio supported the original Nintendo Switch “when it made sense for the individual release,” but now that the Switch 2 “can support any audience” and isn’t just geared toward a younger demographic, the CEO says it “would fully expect to support Switch [2].” Although Zelnick didn’t specifically discuss which Take-Two titles would be making their way to the Switch 2, it’s entirely possible that a Grand Theft Auto 6 port makes its way to the console later down the line. Although, that is heavily dependent on the Switch 2’s hardware specs.
While the next Grand Theft Auto game wasn’t mentioned directly alongside Zelnick’s discussion of the Nintendo Switch 2, he did allow fans to breathe a sigh of relief as he once again reaffirmed that GTA 6 would be released in Fall 2025. With it now being well over 400 days since the first trailer for GTA 6 was released, fans have begun growing increasingly concerned that the highly-anticipated title will be delayed into 2026. Developer Rockstar Games has been silent on the game since December 2023, with no real news, screenshots, or trailer coming from the studio for well over a year. But, despite the prolonged period of silence, Take-Two appears to remain confident that GTA 6 will be in players’ hands later this year.
Grand Theft Auto 6‘s reaffirmed release window is good news for fans, but it likely won’t stop the wild theories. Now that the community can rest easy knowing the game is still scheduled to release sometime this year, the next question on people’s minds is when will the second trailer be released. A popular theory among GTA 6 fans has revolved around the phase of the moon seen in various pieces of GTA Online images, but this has now been debunked several times. Fans have also attempted to use Rockstar Games’ previous marketing schedule to work out a date for the second trailer, but it’s safe to say that Grand Theft Auto 6‘s marketing appears to be nothing like its predecessor.
