Summary
- Ape Escape 3 is rumored to be coming to PS Plus Premium.
- Many other Ape Escape games are already available through PS Plus Premium.
- Plus, an age rating exists for a PS4 version of Ape Escape 3 that has never been released.
A new rumor making the rounds online suggests that Ape Escape 3 is coming to the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus. The Premium tier of PlayStation Plus includes all the benefits associated with the Essential and Extra tiers, but what makes it stand out is access to a growing library of retro games from classic PlayStation consoles. The PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP are all represented in PS Plus Premium, with fresh titles added on a monthly basis.
2025 has been a relatively slow year for PS Plus Premium updates so far. The new PS Plus Premium games for January 2025 only consisted of Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings and MediEvil 2, leaving subscribers wanting for more. February 2025 will no doubt bring more PS Plus Premium games, though the jury is still out on what exactly those games will be. While subscribers wait for more information on that front, it seems an upcoming Premium game may have been leaked.

The free PlayStation Plus games for February 2025 are available for subscribers to claim for their collections right now.
This leak originates from 4Chan, and so fans should take it with a particularly massive grain of salt, but the claim has been made that Ape Escape 3 is coming to PS Plus Premium. To that end, Ape Escape 2 is said to be getting delisted and replaced with a superior version using the new PS2 emulator, something Sony has already done with some of its digital PS2 games. What lends more credibility to this leak is the existing age rating for a PS4 release of Ape Escape 3, which makes it seem like its debut on PS Plus is just a matter of time.
Ape Escape 3 Rumored for PS Plus Premium
Once one of Sony’s most popular franchises, there hasn’t been a new main series Ape Escape game since 2006’s Ape Escape 3. However, the franchise was heavily represented in 2024’s Game of the Year Astro Bot, getting its own themed level and giving players the chance to rescue multiple ape-themed bots. Not only that, but multiple Ape Escape games are already available through PS Plus Premium, so it simply makes sense for Ape Escape 3 to eventually be added to the mix as well.
Currently, there are four Ape Escape games playable to PS Plus Premium subscribers. Ape Escape, Ape Escape 2, Ape Escape: On the Loose (a PSP remake of the original game), and Ape Escape: Academy are all on the service. Time will tell if Ape Escape 3 will ever join them. Maybe fans will get lucky, and it will be a part of the new PS Plus Premium games for February 2025, but they should keep their expectations in check. Those titles will most likely be announced on Wednesday, February 12, so clarification will come sooner rather than later.
