Upcoming Ghost in the Shell Anime

Not much information on the 2026 anime has been shared so far – it is set to air in 2026 and studio Science SARU (Keep Your Hans Off Eizouken) is in charge of the animation. The production comittee also includes Bandai Namco Filmworks, Production I.G and Kodansha – as Science Saru was acquired by Toho, the distribution company is also at least indirectly involved.

When the anime was announced, Bandai Namco also confirmed that there would also be an exhibition to celebrate the works of the original manga creator, Masamune Shirow, in Spring 2025, but no further information has been shared since then.

As the anime is tentatively titled Ghost in the Shell, many speculate it will be a reboot or remake of the series, but nothing has been officially confirmed. Furthermore, the main staff for the series has yet to be announced.

Ghost in the Shell (1995) is available for free on Pluto TV, Hoopla and AMC Theaters on Demand. Fans can also buy or rent it in several digital stores.
