Every sim thinks their child is a genius in The Sims 2, but some students truly are gifted. These children receive exemplary grades and have a wonderful home life, or at least enough to impress the headmaster of a private school.
Getting your young sims into private school is a challenge if you’re not prepared, but we’ll help you get ready in advance so you can dress to impress. From the meals you make to how clean you keep your house, here’s everything you need to know to help your kids get into the most prestigious school in the city.
How To Call The Headmaster
Once you have at least one child or teen sim in the household, a sim can use a phone to invite the headmaster over. He’ll arrive that night to perform an inspection of the household. If you do well, your child or children may be admitted to a private school!
However, there are several factors that contribute to your candidacy as a private school student. First, your students must have grades of ‘C’ or higher. For this reason, it’s best to wait to call the headmaster until your students return so their grades don’t drop in school just before the big night.
How To Pass The Inspection
When the headmaster arrives on your doorstep, the scenario begins. You’ll have only a few minutes (in-game hours) to impress him and earn at least 90 points to get your student into the private institution. There are three sections of the evening that make up your score:
- The House Tour. The headmaster must see if your home is a suitable environment for a child’s academic success.
- The Headmaster’s Dinner. Why bother inviting the headmaster over for dinner if you aren’t going to serve him a meal?
- Schmoozing the Headmaster. Conversation is key, and good conversation goes a long way to ensure your student’s success.
The House Tour
One of the most important part of the tour is showing your home to the headmaster. Each room you show is evaluated based on decor and cleanliness. Lots of vibrant decor makes for an engaging environment, which will make the headmaster happy.
Talk to the headmaster and select the option to give him a house tour in the Entertain menu. Then, walk around the house to the desired rooms. Select the headmaster again to show him the room and watch his reaction.
When you’re ready to end the tour, select the option to end it while talking to the headmaster again.
You’re only able to give one tour, and you can only show each room once. Make sure they look good!
The Best Dinner
The headmaster is bound to get hungry, and your cooking skills make up a decent sum of points for the evening. If cooking isn’t your specialty, study cooking until you have at least three or four skill points.
Easy meals won’t impress the headmaster, so don’t give him mac and cheese. Good easy options include spaghetti and hamburgers, and more advanced options include Baked Alaska and Lobster Thermidor.
Cooking takes time! If you’re running short on time or run a single-parent household, cook the meal before the headmaster arrives and put it in your inventory.
When you’re ready to serve the headmaster dinner, use the Entertain option when speaking to him to call him to dinner. Otherwise, the points will go under the Schmooze category instead of Dinner.
How To Schmooze
Lastly, you’ll need to carry on conversation with the headmaster. While your sims’ interests may differ, they can still be friendly. Your score depends on how well you get along.
Since you have to serve dinner, it’s best to make small talk at the dinner table. Don’t let the headmaster get bored! You don’t need to be best friends by the end of the night, but you need to make sure he leaves feeling good.
As a last resort, you can always try flirting with the headmaster. Ethics don’t matter (much) to sims.
Once you reach the threshold of 90 points, the headmaster will shake your hand and welcome you and all applicable children to the private school.
Any children born or aged up after this acceptance, or any children that were not accepted, will need to apply again for a shot at private school.
Despite the memory stating that private school is expensive, you don’t actually have to pay for it.
