How to Do Stealth Takedowns in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s biggest strength is the amount of freedom Henry has in how he chooses to approach problems. If there is a guard standing between him and his goal, he can bribe him with gold, lure him away with a stone, pull out a sword and whack him to death, or sneak up behind him and choke him out.

Stealth knockouts and Stealth kills allow Henry to take down NPCs standing in his way quickly and quietly without alerting anyone nearby to what might be going on. Here is what you need to do.

How to Do Stealth Takedowns in KCD 2

Stealth Takedowns are when Henry creeps up behind NPCs and chokes them out until they pass out unconscious. It is a simpler, less bloody way of taking care of a patrolling guard or a nosy townsman. Here is what you need to do.

  1. Press the crouch keybind (C) to start stealth mode.
  2. Circle behind the NPC you want to knock out. Make sure you are out of sight of your target as well as any other character who might be around while doing this.
  3. Sneak toward them very slowly until you see the prompt ‘Knock out’ on the bottom right.
  4. Press the appropriate keybind (F), and Henry will pull the NPC into a chokehold.
  5. Wait for a blue swords icon to appear in the middle of the screen and press attack (left-mouse) when it does. This will see Henry attempt to punch the NPC’s lights out.
  6. If this fails, the NPC will attempt to break free, resulting in a shield icon appearing on-screen. Press parry/block (right-mouse) as soon as this appears to prevent them from escaping. If successful, Henry will knock the enemy unconscious.
  7. You can now move the body and drop it in a concealed spot to prevent anyone from seeing what you’ve done.

Anytime you knock someone out, there is a high chance they will remember Henry’s face and will attack him or report him to the guards if they see him again.

If you’re still unsure about pulling this off, the game has a stealth takedown tutorial section that can be played through very early on. Head to Lower Semine, southwest of Troskowitz, and look for Miller Kreyzl. Ask him for work to trigger his quest, where he will offer to train you in the ‘art of thievery.’ This is essentially free training for lockpicking, pickpocketing, and, of course, stealth takedowns. Talk to the Miller’s hired hand, Hensel, to access the takedown tutorial. He will let you practice on him as many times as you want to get the hang of things. Best of all, every successful takedown will also give you Stealth skill experience.

Investing in Stealth perks and wearing inconspicuous clothing is key to remaining unseen in KCD 2.

How To Do Stealth Kills in KCD 2

Stealth kills work exactly the same as Stealth knockouts, the only difference being that instead of rendering someone unconscious, Henry kills them outright. However, to pull off a Stealth kill, you need to equip Henry with a dagger.

  1. You can find a free dagger right next to the lockpick training chest in the Miller’s shack, or you can buy one from Blacksmith Radovan in Tachov, north of Troskowitz.
  2. In your inventory, click on the dagger, and a gear slot will be highlighted in yellow. This is the dedicated dagger slot. Place the dagger inside to equip it.
  3. With a dagger in hand, approach a target, and you will see a prompt to ‘Stealth Kill’ at the bottom right of the screen.
  4. Use the appropriate keybind (F) to perform the kill.

Are Stealth Kills Worth It?

Stealth kills have both upsides and downsides.

The upside is that if someone is dead, he or she cannot report a crime, and as long as Henry remains unseen, he will always be blameless. This option has less chance of coming back to haunt you.

The downside is that killing someone is obviously a much more serious crime than knocking someone out. This means that if, due to some mishap, you do get caught in the act or accused of the crime afterward, your sentence and punishment will be much, much harsher. Maybe even execution.

Choosing the Scout Playstyle at the start of the story of KCD 2 will make stealth kills and takedowns a bit easier to pull off at the start of the game.
