Food poisoning can occur if you eat food with Freshness below 50. The quality of food turns orange when it drops below this threshold and later turns red, indicating that consuming it will have severe effects. Eating a small amount of spoiled food will only leave you poisoned for a short while, and you can sleep in a bed to recover. Since mild poisoning doesn’t last long, you can simply wait it out and rest until your health is fully restored.

However, if the poisoning is severe, you won’t be able to sleep or pass time, and a message will appear on your screen saying “You’re too badly hurt, you need treatment”. To identify if you are poisoned, check the right side of your health bar for a skull symbol alongside cutlery.
