In The Sims 2, you have the opportunity to build a neighborhood and individually influence every family’s actions. From what they eat for breakfast to who they interact with, every choice is yours to make. For the most part, anyway.

The Sims 2: How To Go On Vacation
Take a vacation with our guide to getting away from it all in The Sims 2.
One action you’ll often see is the WooHoo, which many sims like to do. If your sim wants to grow a family, they’ll need a compatible partner and a safe space to get busy. We’ll walk you through the process of getting a sim pregnant and delivering a healthy little baby. Of course, there are also other ways to add a child to your home!
How To Make A Baby
To make a baby, you need a male and female sim to interact. They’ll need to have a high relationship with each other and access to one of several items they can WooHoo on. WooHooing can be done in:
- A double bed.
- An elevator.
- A photo booth.
- A hot tub.
- A car.
- A tent.
- A sauna.
- A helicopter.
- A closet.
- A changing booth.
Public WooHoos are risky, but can be a rewarding want for Romance sims.
Simply select one of these objects with a romantic partner on the lot and select the Try for Baby option. Your sims will get busy and do their thing. If the female sim was successfully impregnated, a lullaby will play to signal the upcoming birth.
Standard WooHoo interactions come with a very low risk of a baby, so be careful!
Male sims can be impregnated by aliens if abducted.
When pregnant, a sim will wear maternity clothes as their baby bump grows over the next few days. After the third day, your sim will call the household to attention as they deliver their new child. You’ll get to choose a name for the baby before officially welcoming them to the family.
The gender of your child is locked once delivery starts, so save beforehand in case you want to reroll the gender. Additionally, if you want to try for twins, you’ll need to make sure the pregnant sim eats a lot of spaghetti or cheesecake.
If a pregnant sim dies or becomes an elder, the baby will be lost.
Pregnant sims will get three days off before and after delivering a baby as maternity/paternity leave. Use this time to bond with the baby and rest!
How To Remove Children From A Household
Children, toddlers, and babies can be forcibly removed from a household due to neglect. SimCity will send a social worker if these young sims are in mortal danger, like when starving or drowning.
A social worker will also appear if a child or younger sim is left orphaned, meaning there are no teens, adults, or elders left in the household to look after them. There’s no way to stop the social worker from retrieving your children unless they have the family aspiration benefit that allows them to plead with the social worker for another chance.
Children seized from households will be added to the adoption pool.
How To Adopt Children
If WooHooing isn’t working or your sim struggles to find love, there are plenty of children looking for loving parents. Pick up your phone and dial services, then select Adoption. You’ll speak with a social worker that will evaluate your candidacy as a potential parent.
Parents who’ve had children removed from the household are unable to adopt new children.
When deemed fit, a social worker will arrive in a van. You can then choose to adopt a baby, toddler, or child sim. These young ones are randomly generated, though any children that have been removed from other households will take priority over townie sims.
Adopted sims will have no memories of a previous household or family, but their family tree will remain intact and their families will remember them.
