Summary

  • Despite how worried we’ve all been, Take-Two recently confirmed once again that GTA 6 is set for Fall 2025.
  • That’s not all, though, as CEO Strauss Zelnick took part in an interview specifically about GTA 6 not being delayed yet.
  • In it, Zelnick notes that Take-Two feels “really good” about GTA 6 launching this year.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has revealed in a recent interview that the company feels “really good” about the chances of Grand Theft Auto 6 not getting delayed out of its Fall 2025 date.

From the moment GTA 6 was revealed with a tentative release year of 2025, there were people who thought it was inevitably going to get delayed. Despite a firmer release window of Fall 2025 from Take-Two, that sceptical viewpoint has become the majority over the past few months, as Rockstar has remained completely silent on its upcoming behemoth.

If games cost a hundred dollars, a whole lot of people won’t play games.

And yet, despite most GTA fans being certain that we were going to hear about a delay into 2026 during Take-Two’s recent investor call, that wasn’t the case at all. During the call, Grand Theft Auto 6 was once again listed with a Fall 2025 release date, suggesting that Take-Two and Rockstar are feeling pretty confident about it.

Don’t Worry, Take-Two Feels “Really Good” About GTA 6 Launching This Year

While a lot of fans instantly called to mind a similar situation with Red Dead Redemption 2 where it was said not to be delayed early in the year and then pushed back in May, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick took the chance to assuage those fears during an interview with IGN that took place before the investor call was made public.

The fact that there even was an interview before the investor call should probably clue you in to how Take-Two is feeling about GTA 6.

According to IGN, Zelnick admitted that, despite the risk of “slippage” when it comes to big game releases, Take-Two is feeling “really good about” the Fall 2025 release date. The investor call reflected that too, as Take-Two seems to be expecting 2025 to be a huge year for it, which will obviously happen if GTA 6 releases.

Look, there’s always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things. So we feel really good about it. – Strauss Zelnick

Outside of reaffirming Take-Two’s belief in GTA 6 launching this year, Zelnick didn’t give much of an update on the game itself. He did note the massive excitement both internally and externally for GTA 6, while pointing out that Rockstar “seeks perfection” with its games. Despite that, Zelnick is aware that “the competition is not asleep” and that GTA is going to need to put some work in.
