February 20 is Going to Be a Big Day for Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves Season 15 is set to release on February 20, in what should be a very exciting day for fans of Rare’s pirate game. Titled “Wild Things,” Season 15 of Sea of Thieves is set to bring tons of exciting additions to the high seas.

It’s approaching seven years since the initial launch of Sea of Thieves, and the game remains extremely popular. This has been helped by Rare’s commitment to the title over the years, with frequent new updates continuing to expand the world. Sea of Thieves even got a successful PlayStation 5 release in April 2024, which pushed the game over the 40 million lifetime players milestone. While the player counts may not have remained as high as they were upon that PlayStation 5 launch in the months since, it has still found a healthy community on the platform, joining the players on Xbox consoles and PC.

In an extended blog post, Sea of Thieves has confirmed plenty of details about the upcoming Season 15, which is titled “Wild Things” and is set to release on February 20. The headline features include two new Sea of Thieves Megalodon variants, the Feared Redmaw and the Barnacled Dread. The post claims that they “aren’t just bigger, they’re meaner, with devastating new abilities that’ll test even the most seasoned sailors.” Gamers should also expect “new Voyages, hunting spears, untamed wildlife and plenty more surprises to arrive throughout the Season.”

That’s not all, though. Sea of Thieves Trading Company The Hunter’s Call is getting a significant upgrade. They will no longer only appear at Seaposts – they’ll be present at Outposts, too, giving players even more opportunity to make money from hunting fish. Combined with the new Megalodon variants, this could prove to be a very exciting update when it arrives on February 20. Rare has yet to confirm how long Season 15 will be active, but for context, Season 13 lasted 12 weeks, while Season 14 dragged on for 18.

Despite its age, it seems like Sea of Thieves has plenty of life left in it yet. It arguably remains the best title in its genre, making it the best choice for players looking for a multiplayer pirate experience, which has definitely contributed to its ongoing popularity. Earlier this year, Sea of Thieves revealed its plans for 2025, so gamers can be safe in the knowledge that it isn’t going anywhere soon.
