But just like Season 1, Squid Game’s second season has left on an explosive cliffhanger. With so many new characters and storylines revealed, here are just some questions we still have after Squid Game’s second season.

What’s Going To Happen To Gi-Hun?
Will He Live Or Die?
Towards the end of the season, Gi-hun led a group of players in a revolt against the guards. After gaining control of the dormitory and advancing to the entrance of the control room, all seemed to be going according to plan — until, eventually, the players were overwhelmed by the guards and In-ho resumed his position as The Frontman.
Unfortunately, characters were killed and Gi-hun was captured. So, what’s going to happen to Gi-hun? We know The Frontman holds some sort of admiration for him so killing him would be far too easy. Will Gi-hun finally escape and lead everybody to liberation? Or will The Frontman force him to look upon the damage he caused by giving the players hope?

Are There Any VIPs Playing In The Games?
Which Player Is Likely To Be A VIP?
One of the more interesting storylines in Season 1 was the reveal of the complex hierarchy behind the games. Similar to other dystopian fiction, like The Hunger Games, these games are put on for the amusement of the upper class called the VIPs.
In both seasons, higher-ups were able to join the games, so fans have begun to theorize that, if the higher-ups can easily join the games, could VIPs also join? It would certainly make for an interesting game. Fans have started to speculate if certain players are actually VIPs in disguise, looking to fully immerse themselves in the games they pay so much money to watch.

How Did Hwang In-ho Become The Frontman?
And Why?
Season 1 had an overlapping storyline following Detective Hwang Jun-ho’s infiltration of the games in an effort to find his long-lost brother, In-ho. During his search, Jun-ho uncovered that In-ho was actually the winner of the 28th Squid Game in 2015 and, later, became the leader of the games called The Frontman.
But just how did In-ho become The Frontman? Perhaps after leaving the games and realizing that he was too late to save his cancer-ridden wife and unborn child, he decided there wasn’t much left for him out in the ‘real world.’

Who Is In The Box?
Which Player Was Eliminated?
For each upcoming season, Squid Game likes to release promotional images of the upcoming season — and one particular photo has left fans asking: who is in the box? Each time a Player is killed in the games, they’re whisked away into a neat coffin-like box wrapped with a pink bow.
In one of the photos, Players 120, 222, 149, and 007 all look worryingly down at one of said boxes. But who’s in there? Perhaps it’s Park Jung-bae’s body or any of the various Players killed in the chaos of the night. But others have speculated that it could be Player 246, the painter from Guard 011’s theme park job, since it looks like Player 120 might be wearing his jacket.

Who Will Live Or Die After The Revolt?
How Many More Will Die?
Following the revolt, multiple characters have already met their demise. But there’s still plenty of damage to be done. There are some popular fan theories circulating around who will die in Season 3. Many are thinking that Player 246 will meet his end trying to help protect Player 120 from the repercussions of the revolt.
Others have agreed that it’s possible Player 333 will die trying to save Player 222 since they have history and it’s clear he still cares for her. Since Squid Game is known for pulling on the heart strings, it’s more than likely that one of the Players from the mother-son duo of 149 and 007 will perish.

Why Did In-Ho Join The Games?
And He Was Good, Too!
One of the biggest reveals of Season 1 was the fact that the sweet old man, Player 001, was the true mastermind behind the games. When confronted by Gi-hun about why he decided to take part in the games, he simply explained that he wanted to experience the thrill of playing childhood games again before he died.

Squid Game’s second season ups the ante on its deadly childrens’ games.
Similar to the old man, another big revelation in Season 2 was that The Frontman, Hwang In-ho, was willingly joining the games as this game’s Player 001. But why? Clearly, he’s interested in Gi-hun’s morality, so perhaps it was just another way to watch him more intently. Hopefully In-ho will reveal why in season three.
And Why Are There Two Robots Now?
Similar to the promotional images that get released before each season, Squid Game also likes to reveal the release dates of each season with a teaser video. Each video shows a guard dragging a random Player’s body towards a box before looking up at the audience with a backdrop of one of the games that will be played in the upcoming season.
But Season 3’s video is a little more ambiguous. The guard is seemingly pulling the body through a field of flowers, all while the shadows of the child robots Young-hee (from Red Light, Green Light) and Chul-su loom over them. Will this be a final showdown for Gi-hun in the game that started it all?

Will Guard 011 Help The Players?
Or Will She Stay Complicit?
Season 2 changed things up by giving us a straight-forward guard perspective with Guard 011, Kang No-eul. It’s revealed that she is a former North Korean soldier who fled to South Korea after killing her superior officer, leaving her newborn daughter behind in the process.
No-eul joined the games as a way to earn extra money to pay her local broker to try to find her daughter, and it’s clear she doesn’t exactly agree with everything that’s going on in the games. Is there a chance she’d find the will to work with Gi-hun and save the players? She already cares for Player 246, so perhaps there’s hope that she will help put an end to the games.

Why Didn’t Park Jung-bae Disclose What In-Ho Did?
He Was So Close To Saying Something!
One of the top questions we have after finishing Season 2 is why didn’t Park Jung-bae tell Gi-hun what In-ho did during the Carousel game. Clearly, he wanted to at some point before he met his demise.
Maybe he was scared after seeing In-ho kill somebody so easily. Or, perhaps, after hearing Gi-hun praise In-ho’s gameplay, he just couldn’t handle breaking his suspicions to Gi-hun. Ultimately, we won’t know now that Jung-bae is dead after being shot by In-ho after resuming his Frontman identity, but it’s still interesting to speculate in the fandom.

What Is Captain Park’s Larger Role In The Games?
Does He Actually Care About Jun-ho?
Season 2 was chock-full of big reveals. From In-ho’s joining of the games to the fact that whoever is running the games knew that Gi-hun was onto them and halted Jun-ho’s plan to go save him from the island. But the reason behind how they knew shocked fans to their core.
The sweet Captain Park that helped save Jun-ho from the sea was actually revealed to be working for whoever runs the games after purposely sabotaging the rescue team’s efforts and killing a member in the process. It’s safe to assume that Captain Park didn’t just come across Jun-ho in the sea and was appointed, possibly by The Frontman, to keep watch over him and lead him astray.
