There are 16 Legendary Animals in Red Dead Redemption 2 that players can hunt and sell to a Trapper in order to obtain some rare and exclusive loot, adding further immersion into the many states of Red Dead Redemption 2 as Arthur Morgan begins his journey as a master hunter to provide for the Van der Linde gang and enjoy the peaceful thrills of an open West.

Legendary Elk

A Shaggy and Skittish Animal

• Location: Cumberland Forest, East of Fort Wallace and Bacchus Station

The Legendary Elk is one of the easiest Legendary Animals to hunt in Red Dead Redemption 2 due to its distinct white coat. The shaggy mane and snowy coat of the Legendary Elk make it easily distinguishable from other creatures, but what makes this rare beauty such a hard catch in the first place is its skittish nature. The Legendary Elk will often run at the slightest sound, so it’s advised to take this magical beast out with a bow or a scoped rifle to avoid its retreat deeper into the woods.

Legendary Big Horn Ram

A Not-So-Visually Distinct Ram

• Location: South area of Grizzlies West, East of Valentine across the river

The Legendary Big Horn Ram doesn’t really have many distinct features from the other variants of the Ram, outside of its larger horns and its white coat. It’s not too difficult to find, and players can easily hunt it on horseback due to its skittish nature but lack of speed.

Legendary Buck

A Skittish Animal Noted by a White and Brown Fur Coat

• Location: North West of Strawberry in Big Valley, West Elizabeth

Bucks are usually extremely skittish, and the Legendary Buck continues that trend. This is an animal best hunted on foot due to how disturbed it is at the slightest sound, but it’s easy to distinguish thanks to its white and brown coat as it roams between the trees of West Elizabeth. A quick shot will drop this buck, but missing will start a chase that might be a tad annoying.

Legendary White Bison

A Giant Albino Bison That Roams the Frozen Lakes of Ambarino

• Location: Lake Isabelle, Ambarino

After leaving the freezing temperatures of Colter in Ambarino, most players won’t want to head back. However, putting on some winter clothing and retreading into the snow to the icy lake of Lake Isabelle will reward players with a giant Legendary White Bison, that’s impossible to miss in terms of sights and shooting since its great size makes it an easy target for guns. This beast has a hard time getting away due to the openness of the area, so it’s an easy kill once it’s spotted.

Legendary Moose

A Hulking White Moose That Roams Cougar-Infested Forests

• Location: Roanoke Ridge, North of Roanoke Valley

The Legendary Moose is truly beautiful to gaze upon for its giant size and majestic white coat. The graying hairs on the beast show its age and its rare status among the other wildlife of Roanoke Ridge. While the size of the Legendary Moose makes it harder to escape a bullet, it is still rather skittish, and players need to be aware that the woods that it has made its home is often filled with Murfree killers and cougars that might make the hunt a little harder.

Legendary Boar

A Dirty Boar That Frolics in the Bluewater Marsh

• Location: North area of Bluewater Marsh

Wild boars are often a nuisance, and the Legendary Boar that stomps through Bluewater Marsh isn’t really one player can see a distinction from other than its dirty light brown hair. The Legendary Boar has quite a thick coat, so it’s going to take a few hits, but try not to let it escape as hunting it on horseback is going to be troublesome with alligators and Night Folk skulking about.

Legendary Coyote

An All-Black Coyote That Wanders Dry and Barren Plains

• Location: West of Ringneck Creek in Scarlet Meadows

Scarlet Meadows has quite a few plains to explore, especially with its connection to the Heartlands in New Hanover. As such, the dry and rocky climate makes the Legendary Coyote an easy spot, as this dark gray coyote isn’t exactly a threat, and is noticeable enough that a quick bullet to the head or an arrow through the body will drop it quickly.

Legendary Fox

A White Fox That Hides in the Forests of Lemoyne

• Location: Mattock Pond, North of Rhodes

The Legendary Fox has a beautiful white coat that would make it rather camouflaged in the snowy fields of Ambarino, but luckily this Legendary Fox is located in Scarlet Meadows of Lemoyne, where it can be found roaming the forests near Mattock Pond. While it’s sleek and agile against the many trees of its location, it’s also a fairly weak animal that any Repeater can easily kill.

Legendary Pronghorn

A New Austin Mammal That Has Short White Hair

• Location: South East of Fort Mercer, Rio Bravo, New Austin

The Legendary Pronghorn is by no means a difficult animal to find, but accessing the hunting grounds for the Legendary Pronghorn will be a tad difficult since players must first reach the epilogue to safely hunt it without being shot by an invisible sniper in New Austin as Arthur. The fur of the Legendary Pronghorn isn’t too distinct, but the short and white hair will help players recognize it as they chase it down on horseback among the desert plains of New Austin.

Legendary Tatanka Bison

New Austin’s Large Bison That Wanders the Dirt Plains of Hennigan’s Stead

• Location: South of Stillwater Creek (between MacFarlane’s Ranch and Thieves Landing) in New Austin

Near Hennigan’s Stead in New Austin, players can find a rather dirty bison that has short black hair and a thick gray coat around its head. This Legendary Animal will often be grazing the grass, and it’s easy to spot due to its size and distinct area from other bison, but players won’t be able to safely hunt it into they are in the epilogue section of Red Dead Redemption 2 due to its location in New Austin.

Legendary Beaver

The Pink-Tailed White-Coated Beaver Making Dams at Elysian Pool

• Location: South of Elysian Pool, West of Van Horn Trading Post, New Hanover

The Legendary Beaver is a hard animal to spot due to its small size, but it is still notably larger than the other beavers that roam the land. This heaver is also recognized due to its beige coat, and the fact that it has a stunning pink tail. While the Legendary Beaver is quick to kill, regardless of the weapon used, it can be difficult to spot and it often retreats into the waters when spotted.

Legendary Wolf

A Large Wolf With A Bite and Claw to Make John Marston’s Scar Even Worse

• Location: Cotorra Springs, South of the Wapiti Indian Reservation

The Cotorra Springs is a beautiful location for exploring and hunting, as the Legendary Wolf has made this area its home. It’s a far larger wolf that might make John Marston’s scar sting and its black fur and gnarly bite make it a savage monster that can shrug off a few bullets. Players need to avoid getting too close, as its claws and bite can be pretty lethal.

Legendary Bharati Grizzly Bear

The Gigantic Grizzly Bear With Wounds of War and an Appetite for Flesh

• Location: North of O’Creagh’s Run, Grizzlies East, Ambarino

Hosea and Arthur together could not take out the gigantic bear spotted in the Grizzlies East, but perhaps a more skilled hunter could. The Legendary Bear is a monster that roams the lands, and its hunt for food will often have players caught by surprise by its roaming, despite its size. Yet, a competent rifle will quickly dispatch the bear, even if it takes around 4 direct hits to do so. While this beast is large, its charge is fast, and its grab is certain death, so try to keep your distance.

Legendary Cougar

A Stalking Black Cougar of New Austin That Will Bite Any Living Prey

• Location: West of Tumbleweed in Gaptooth Ridge, New Austin

A native creature that stalks Gaptooth Ridge in New Austin, this cougar has a distinct black fur that makes it instantly recognizable, but its carnivore diet and affinity for hunting means that those who spot the all-black Legendary Cougar might already have their lives forfeited. The Legendary Cougar is extremely fast and prone to attack, so this animal needs to be killed quickly before the hunter becomes the hunter and is instantly killed by one grab. On top of its speed and damage, the Legendary Cougar can only be found in the epilogue due to its New Austin home.

Legendary Bull Gator

A Tiatnic Albino Gator That Roams the Bayou

• Location: Bayou Nwa, Lemoyne, after the Chapter 5 mission: That’s Murfree Country

If players want to try and hunt the Legendary Bull Gator, then they must first have completed Chapter 5 of Red Dead Redemption 2. After which, the Legendary Bull Gator will begin to stalk the Lemoyne swamp lands near Lagras in the Bayou Nwa. It’s impossible to miss this alligator due to its incredible size and pale scales, but it also shrugs off many bullets and has great speed, and those caught in the jaws of this scaley titan will be killed instantly.

Legendary Giaguaro Panther

The Hunting Panther That Surprise Attacks Anyone Brave Enough to Enter Its Domain

• Location: South of Scarlet Meadows, between Braithwaite Manor and Shady Belle

The Legendary Panther stalks near the dry plains just South of Braithwaite manor, where the small forests and shrubs act as its lethal hunting grounds. This beast has seen its fair share of hunters, noted by its scars and lack of left eye, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less deadly. Stepping into this Legendary Animal’s territory is risky, as the Panther hunts the player as much as the player hunts the Panther, and if grabbed, it’s certain death from this fast and agile animal that can easily evade multiple shots.
