Sung Jin-Woo Set Out to Help Song-Yi Unbeknownst to the Dangers in His Path

After waking up late, Sung Jin-Woo rushed to Jinah’s school for the meeting. His sister was shocked by his sudden physical transformation as he seemed almost unrecognizable. Later in the meeting, the teacher praised Jinah for her academic achievements and her desire to attend medical school. Once she had discussed Sung’s sister, the teacher sought his help to convince Han Song-Yi to at least graduate from school.

It turned out that Song-Yi stopped coming to school after having awakened and was determined to work as a hunter. Since Sung Jin-Woo was well-acquainted with the occupational hazard of working as a low-ranking hunter, he agreed to help, only later realizing that she used to be one of the extras in Yoo Jin-Ho’s raid team. Meanwhile, Hwang Dong-soo arrived in South Korea determined to avenge his brother’s death by killing Sung Jin-Woo and Yoo Jin-Ho.

The Red Gate Disaster And Kim Chul’s Betrayal

White Tiger Guild’s Raid Team Leader Abandoned Weak Hunters In Red Gate Dungeon

Soon after the meeting, Sung Jin-Woo approached Song-Yi, who immediately recognized him. She was able to connect the dots and came to the conclusion that her teacher may have talked to him to convince her to come back to school and at least graduate. When Han Song-Yi outright refused, even before listening to Jin-Woo, he lied that he had no plans to change her heart and instead wished to help her become a great hunter. Song-Yi was caught off-guard and agreed to go on a raid with him.

Using his acquaintance with Ahn Sangmin, the chief of White Tiger’s Guild, Sung Jin-Woo managed to get the two of them a place in a C-rank gate raid, hoping that experiencing the cruelty of the hunter’s life would change Song-Yi’s heart. The mission commenced under the leadership of A-rank hunter Kim-Chul. The group also included 7 B-rank and 4 C-rank hunters. Sung Jin-Woo was disappointed since he believed that the mission would be too easy considering that the team was overpowered in respect to the gate they were entering.

I Am Saying You Should Get Ready To Become Hunted.

Moments after the crew stepped inside the gate, the dimensions started to fluctuate, leaving everyone puzzled. Before the raid team could react, the C-rank gate turned into a red gate. Ahn Sangmin was shocked by what he witnessed and immediately alerted White Tiger guild master and S-rank hunter Baek Yoon-ho. Since red gates were notorious for their harsh environment and dangerous bosses, low-ranking hunters were almost guaranteed to die unless protected at all times by more powerful hunters.

As a leader, Kim-chul should have marshaled hunters under him to work together, but instead, he took a selfish path. Considering that it would take many weeks to get out of the gate, he abandoned his comrades who were below C-rank. But since B-rank hunter Park Heejin had noticed that Sung Jin-Woo was no ordinary man, she voluntarily joined his group.

The Contrasting Fates of Sung Jin-Woo and Kim Chul’s Groups

A-Rank Raid Team Leader Struggled to Survive, While Sung Jin-Woo Kept His Group Safe

After forming his team of strong hunters, Kim-Chul parted ways with Sung Jin-Woo’s group. Soon afterward, the group was attacked by ice bears. The harsh climatic conditions only made matters worse for them as they were ill-prepared for such a situation. Kim-Chul lost his team rapidly, and the surviving members were eventually killed by ice elves led by the boss of the dungeon, Baruka. With no other option, Kim-Chul fled the scene to save his life, not realizing that he was being followed.

Meanwhile, Sung Jin-Woo used his inventory to give the people in his group warm clothes and other essentials for survival. He kept everyone safe and secure, reassuring them that no other magic beasts would come to the region as it was overrun by ice bears. While his group was taking a rest, Sung Jin-Woo used his shadow army to defeat the ice bears in the nearby cave, extracting their shadows in the process.

Sung Jin-Woo Faces the Boss of Red Gate Dungeon

Baruka and Kim-Chul Died Fighting the Shadow Monarch

When Kim-Chul eventually found Sung Jin-Woo and his group, they were enjoying a meal together by the bonfire. This infuriated him as he had lost the assault team due to starvation and his poor decisions, so he conveniently blamed Jin-Woo for everything. But Sung did not hesitate to attack the A-rank hunter, who seemed threatening. He also noticed that Kim-Chul had unknowingly brought Baruka and his demons with him. Although the dungeon boss offered to negotiate with Jin-Woo, the latter refused, summoning his shadow army immediately.

You are clearly not human. Why are you mingling among humans? You don’t even know who you are. We keep hearing a voice. It tells us to kill humans.

As a violent battle broke out, Sung Jin-Woo’s group sought refuge in the forest. Baruka was considerably stronger than Sung himself, and despite summoning Igris, Jin-Woo felt that he still couldn’t defeat him. When Kim-Chul tried to attack again, Igris killed him, and Sung added him to his shadow army, naming him Iron. Baruka still managed to overpower Jin-Woo’s men, and it appeared that he might be invincible. But little did the boss of the red gate dungeon realize that his army was slowly being wiped out by Sung’s shadow army, leaving him to fend for himself.

Although surprised when he noticed that all ice elves were dead, Baruka was still confident and took on Iron, Igris, and Jin-Woo alone. Eventually, Sung managed to outsmart the dungeon boss, leaving him open to an unexpected attack by Iron’s hammer, which crushed him to death on the spot. Jin-Woo knew that Baruka was extremely powerful and naturally desired to extract his shadow. However, he was disappointed to realize that shadow extraction did not work on the demon.

Red Gate Survival Raises Suspicion And Han Song-Yi Learns Her Lesson

Han Song-Yi Returned to School After Being Horrified by the Tragedies in the Red Gate Dungeon

By the time Sung Jin-Woo and the surviving members of the raid came out of the gate, Hwang Dong-soo had already left for the USA, thinking his enemy must have died in the red gate. White Tiger guild master and S-rank hunter Baek Yoon-ho was puzzled to learn that only low-ranking hunters had survived. He tried to ask Jin-Woo some questions but to no avail. But when Park Heejin confirmed that Sung defeated the dungeon boss, Baek asked Ahn to ensure that he brought him to the guild.

I Feel Like Something Within Me Is Lost Every Time I Get Stronger.

After a long tiring day, Sung Jin-Woo dropped Song-Yi at her home. His plan to make her give up on her foolish dreams by acquainting her with the tough reality appeared to work. Having witnessed the violence in the red gate dungeon, Song-Yi eventually decided to start going to school again. Meanwhile, Jin-Woo pondered over the fact that he took the life of another human being.
