A new trailer that was seemingly released early on the PlayStation Store has revealed that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will release on August 25 and include the original game’s Ape Escape mode.
After decades of doing nothing but crossovers and Pachinko machines, Konami has finally started pulling its foot out of the grave over the past few years. The first big move it made was reintroducing Silent Hill through a successful remake of the second game (alongside some less successful spin-offs), and it’s next swing is with Metal Gear Solid.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Preview – Too Authentic For Its Own Good
We went hands-on with the VIRTUOS mission in Unreal Engine 5.
For a while, rumours were flying around that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater would be getting a remake by Virtuos, which was later confirmed to be the case. Since that announcement was made, we’ve seen a lot of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but have been left wondering when we’d get our hands on it.

That question has finally been answered, although it’s not clear if it was meant to be revealed just yet. As spotted on ResetEra by NateDog, a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater just popped up on the PlayStation Store, revealing that the game’s release date is August 25 of this year.
August is a little further off than most of us thought Snake Eater would release by, but it’s still nice to have an official date after so long. The trailer contains a bunch of new footage of the remake, but the most exciting reveal is that the beloved Snake vs. Monkey mode from the original game will be making a return.
It’s not clear just yet if the mode is going to be exclusive to PlayStation (although it likely is), but we do get a few glimpses of Pipo monkeys running around the realistic-looking jungle. Snape vs. Monkey is something that a lot of fans wanted to see, but doubted would make it into the remake considering how quiet Ape Escape has been in recent years.
For now, we have no idea whether or not the trailer was meant to be shown so early or if it was intended to be a part of the rumoured State of Play, but we do at least now know when to expect the return of Naked Snake. And, of course, the beloved apes from Ape Escape, who have never looked better.
