Revealed in the ‘Restricted Restoration.mp4’ tape, the small version of Bron was once Thomas Clarke, a 59-year-old Playtime Co. employee suffering from terminal lung cancer. Fully aware of the twisted experiments at Playtime Co., Clarke volunteered to merge with the Bron entity, likely in search of a final, desperate hope. However, once inside, he became the target of violent attacks by other experiments, leading to severe damage and him being locked in solitary confinement away from other experiments. In Chapter 2, Bron returns in a much larger, withered form, and his eyes are gouged out. Players must use him in this dormant state, via a large crane, to solve a puzzle in order to progress.

The real horror of Bron lies within the ‘Restricted Restoration.mp4’ tape, where audiences see human-like eyes darting around a misshapen dinosaur skull structure, making for a deeply creepy and unsettling image. While it’s easy to feel sympathy for Bron’s suffering, Clarke’s knowledge of Playtime Co.’s dark experiments on children complicates this, as he too was complicit in the company’s horrors. Ultimately, the emotional weight of his story and his uncanny appearance make Bron quite scary.

However, she became an active participant in the ‘Hour of Joy,’ a brutal event during which she mercilessly murdered staff members. This backstory adds a layer of tragedy to her character, further complicating her terrifying presence; although she was deemed as always aggressive to staff, she took on a nurturing role towards the other orphans.

CatNap, a loyal supporter of The Prototype, then tied up DogDay in a cell in the Playhouse. Upon the player’s arrival, DogDay relays this information and is ambushed by a group of Ruined Smiling Critters, who then possess him and begin chasing the player.

DogDay’s appearance chained up in the cells is truly terrifying, especially since he is cut in half. The cutscene where the Ruined Smiling Critters are possessing his body is extremely disturbing to watch, and his subsequent crawling toward the player is greatly eerie. However, he is not as scary as other mascots due to the knowledge of his ally status and his lack of control when in the chase scene. In hindsight, DogDay’s chase scene is more sad than scary, but at the time, it was truly horrifying.
