The Marvel brand has become one of the biggest franchises in entertainment history, spanning film, television, and video games. Its genesis as a comic book brand has expanded into nearly every facet of pop culture now, and there are no signs of Marvel stopping any time soon. Marvel-based video games are nothing new, but there are several projects in development that show the company is aiming to increase its presence in the industry.

With upcoming titles like Marvel’s Wolverine, Blade, and EA’s Iron Man and Black Panther projects, there is an exciting number of Marvel games on the way. Also, the launch of Marvel Rivals has been a massive hit, bringing some of the franchise’s biggest characters together in a multiplayer match-up. There is one Marvel character in particular, though, who has a lot of potential in gaming; Ghost Rider.

Marvel’s Ghost Rider Should Get a Bigger Gaming Spotlight Before the MCU

Rumors Surrounding Ghost Rider’s Planned Return to Film

Recently, claims that Ghost Rider could be set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday started making their way around the internet. If these rumors prove to be true, it would be the first time Ghost Rider has been back on the big screen since 2007’s film adaptation starring Nicolas Cage. However, before that day comes, the gaming world would be the ideal platform to reintroduce Ghost Rider to audiences in order to have him fresh in fans’ minds.

As of now, Marvel has planned to release Avengers: Doomsday on May 1, 2026. However, this date could potentially be subject to change.

Ghost Rider Rumors Go Beyond the MCU

The MCU isn’t the only place Ghost Rider is rumored to show up in the future. A recent leak from X0XLEAK claims that Parker Robbins, a.k.a. The Hood, could be coming to Marvel Rivals soon. While The Hood has been a Marvel villain for a while now, he recently became the new Ghost Rider in the comics. It’s unclear if Parker Robbins’ potential arrival to Marvel Rivals will feature his Ghost Rider abilities or not, but it could be setting the stage for an appearance from the character.

There’s also the chance that Parker Robbins’ rumored introduction to Marvel Rivals could be teasing a tie-in with the MCU. The Hood is set to be the main antagonist in the MCU’s Ironheart mini-series, which might lead to Parker Robbins earning the Ghost Rider moniker ahead of Avengers: Doomsday. This is purely speculation, but Marvel Rivals would be an exciting way to tease such a story arc.

Parker Robbins and his supervillain persona as The Hood were introduced to the Marvel Comics canon in 2002 in a self-titled limited series.

Ghost Rider is an Ideal Video Game Character

Ghost Rider has been a highly-requested Marvel Rivals character, so only time will tell if the rumored arrival of Parker Robbins finally brings the character to the game. The thought of getting to use Ghost Rider’s fire abilities and driving around maps via chopper would be a thrilling addition to an already action-packed experience. It remains to be seen if Ghost Rider ever makes his way to Marvel Rivals, but based on the diversity of his powers, he would be a really strong addition to the game’s ever-expanding roster, especially after he already got some gaming attention in Marvel’s Midnight Suns.

It’s important to note that all of these claims about Ghost Rider, whether it be related to the MCU or Marvel Rivals, are just rumors until officially confirmed. However, it’s incredibly exciting to think about the return of such an underrated character. The visual representation of Ghost Rider is iconic, and it would be fascinating to see how he would be interpreted in a fresh light.
