Summary

  • Marvel Rivals first Funko Pops have been revealed.
  • Magneto, Iron Man, Doctor Doom, and a super-size Galacta make up the first wave.
  • All four will be available this week, possibly as soon as today.

Some pretty concrete rumors started to swirl last week suggesting Galacta, the game’s narrator and mascot, would be Marvel Rivals first Funko Pop. It turns out that those rumors were only 25 percent true. The first wave of Rivals Funko Pops has been revealed, and while Galacta is among them, she is joined by figures based on three other characters who have been a part of Rivals since its beta.

Galacta’s Pop, which should be available to buy this week (possibly even as soon as today), does have something over the other three Rivals Funko debutants, though. According to Funko Pops News, which has shared images of all four new figures, Galacta’s Pop will be a super-sized one. Super-sized Pops tend to be around two inches taller than standard figures.

That means the daughter of Galactus won’t tower over the other Pops releasing this week quite as much as she does while looking down on matches from the sky in Marvel Rivals. Two of the Pops joining her are playable characters – Iron Man and Magneto. Since the characters kicking off the Rivals Pop collection were likely selected between the beta and its release, it’s interesting to see who the devs thought might be its most popular characters.

Marvel Rivals First Funko Pops Are Here

Where’s Jeff?

Iron Man and Magneto were likely chosen as safe bets rather than characters the Rivals team assumed would be the most popular. A famous Avenger and a famous X-Man. Jeff and Peni will inevitably get figures eventually, but since NetEase didn’t realize just how big a hit Rivals was going to be, starting a Funko Pop collection with those lesser-known Marvel characters wouldn’t have been smart. Even if Rivals hadn’t taken off like it has, they’re still just unique Magento and Iron Man Pops that even those who don’t play the game might buy.

The same can be said of the Pop that rounds out this first group of four, Doctor Doom. Even though you don’t fight them directly, a pair of Dooms are the villains in Marvel Rivals. Again, even though Doom’s Pop design is based on how he looks in Rivals, a regular Marvel fan might see this figure and pick it up simply because it’s a cool-looking Doctor Doom Pop.

This is almost certainly only the beginning of Marvel Rivals’ Funko Pop collection considering how massive the game has become and remained during its first two months. If you can’t wait for an official Rivals Jeff Pop, there is already a Deadpool Pop that Jeff is a part of, and Youtooz has opened pre-orders for its first Jeff the Land Shark figure.
