Lego Transformers BrickHeadz Sets Leaked, Releasing March 1

Summary

  • Lego’s next Transformers sets will seemingly be Optimus Prime and Bumblebee BrickHeadz.
  • Images of the sets have leaked and they will be far more affordable than the current Transformers Lego options available.
  • The only downside is it doesn’t look like the BrickHeadz will be able to transform.

Lego will expand on its Transformers range later this year via the release of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee BrickHeadz sets. The good news is the new sets will be far more affordable than the limited Lego Transformers options currently available. The bad news is the sets don’t appear to do something you might consider to be standard for a Transformer – transform.

Lego hasn’t officially revealed its Transformers BrickHeadz sets. However, the sets were leaked via Lego’s own Building Instructions portal (thanks, Brick Fanatics). BrickHeadz are smaller Lego sets that tend to be based on a single character, giving them a somewhat animated and exaggerated look with their heads being quite a bit bigger than the subjects they’re modeled after.

Since the sets haven’t been officially revealed, a release date hasn’t been confirmed. However, BlogsBrick they’ll be here on March 1, 2025.

The leak suggests that there will be two Transformers BrickHeadz sets – one for Optimus Prime, and another for Bumblebee. However, each of them will be two-packs as they will feature Optimus and Bee in their Autobot and vehicle forms. That’s where the inability to transform comes in. Rather than sets that can switch between bipedal and four-wheel forms like the more expensive ones, you’ll have to settle for sets that show the Transformers in their different forms at the same time and separately.

Transformers’ Next Lego Sets Will Be Optimus And Bumblebee BrickHeadz

They Don’t Transform, But They Will Almost Certainly Be Very Affordable

The folks at Lego are naturally pretty talented and it’s beyond me how they’ve managed to create any Transformers sets that can actually transform. To expect them to achieve the same with far smaller BrickHeadz sets might be asking a little much, especially if you want these sets to cost the same as other BrickHeadz. If they follow the standard pricing structure, they should cost $19.99 each if they are indeed both two-packs.

Lego began its relationship with Transformers in 2022 by releasing a very impressive Optimus Prime set. At more than 1,500 pieces and a $179.99 price tag, it’s not exactly the most consumer-friendly set on the market. Neither is 2024’s Bumblebee set, although at 950 pieces and $89.99, it’s a lot closer to being an impulse buy when you’re perusing sets at your local Lego store than its older sibling.

Lego seems to be gearing up for a big year in 2025 with some huge crossovers already rumored and confirmed. Nintendo is working with Lego to create a Game Boy set that will be here in October, but exactly what that’s going to look like remains largely unclear. It’s also been heavily rumored this year’s The Lord Of The Rings set will be a toy brick recreation of Bag End. No cheaper, scaled-down sets for LOTR fans anytime soon, unfortunately.
