Even among the Hashira, Ubuyashiki was well respected. None of the Hashira dare spoke a word against him and obeyed him without question. Even Hashiras who were hot-headed and unruly, such as the Wind Hashira – Sanemi Shinazugawa did not question his authority. Ubuyashiki also played a vital role in unifying the Hashira. While each Hashira had a different past, Ubuyashiki acted as a mediator and solved conflicts between them. He was not a leader who interfered with missions but trusted in his Demon Slayer Corp members to ensure the missions went smoothly. Ubuyashiki was always one step ahead of Muzan, and he was able to anticipate Muzan’s movements and direct his Demon Slayer Corp members to act fast.

Now that Kibutsuji’s given himself away for the first time, I don’t want to let go.

As the ninety-seventh leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, Ubuyashiki was responsible for training a decade of Demon Slayers and Hashiras, teaching them the ways of the Breathing Techniques and how to counter a demon’s attack. He also worked on the sidelines, gathering intelligence information on Muzan, trying to understand ways in which he could weaken and defeat him. Ubuyashiki was also aware of Muzan’s personality of being over-confident, believing that nothing could harm him, but this was a fatal mistake by Muzan as Ubuyashiki knew about Muzan’s weakness towards the blue spider lily and his fear of the sun breathing technique, which was important for the final battle.

The Sacrifice Of A Leader

Towards the end, Ubuyashiki sacrifices himself so that his Demon Slayer Corp members and Hashiras could get a head start on Muzan. Anticipating Muzan’s visit, Ubuyashiki embraced his role as the sacrifice and executed a suicidal move that was so powerful it was able to stall Muzan until the Hashiras and Tanjiro could get to him. He purposely led Muzan to him so that he could execute this plan of attack, pretending that he was the one getting ambushed. While doing all of this, Ubuyashiki also ensured that Tamayo’s Muzan-killing drug was ready to be injected into Muzan, weakening him even further. This showed Ubuyashiki’s tactical mindset and that he did everything he could to ensure his Demon Slayer Corp members had the upper hand.

Ubuyashiki was more than just a leader, he was the driving force in the downfall of Muzan. He outsmarted Muzan even if it meant sacrificing himself, a noble gesture for a leader with so much wisdom and peacefulness. His leadership role was instrumental in ensuring that Muzan could not escape this time and that his villainous reign ended. His sacrifice was motivation enough for the Hashiras and Tanjiro to avenge him and take down Muzan. He also knew that his sacrifice would not be in vain, and he continued to believe in his Demon Slayer Corp members to fulfill his final wish. This proves that Ubuyashiki was a successful leader and was an important person who contributed to the battle against Muzan. He left behind a legacy for all Demon Slayers to follow and left his family to take up the mantle and carry on the Ubuyashiki legacy.
