Not only that, but your actions don’t stay in one place; word of your deeds spreads from town to town, shaping how others treat you. Whether it’s through quests, helping strangers, or simply the way you talk to people, every decision leaves a mark. The game doesn’t just encourage good behavior – it makes you think twice before stepping out of line.
What Is Reputation?
Reputation in the game is a system that reflects how other characters treat you and interact with you based on your previous actions.
This means that if you’ve been behaving well and keeping your nose clean, villagers, guards, nobles, and even traders will treat you fairly and kindly. However, on the opposite hand, you will be treated badly.
In each village or town you visit, you will have a separate reputation among its people. But, word spreads between communities, so even if you have never visited a village or town, your established reputation will still affect how you are treated.
If you want to keep track of your reputation level, go to the Player Tab and select the Reputation menu to see how you stand with other people.
Here, you will notice every town or village listed separately, along with different types of people within it (civilians, men-at-arms, holy men, nobility..etc).
Each group will have a face icon representing your reputation.
- A yellow smiling face means you are in good standing and well-liked.
- An orange neutral face means that opinions about you are mixed – not too bad, but not too good either.
- A red angry face means that you have been naughty, and people are not too fond of you.
So how do you change this and improve your reputation to the best? This is what the next section will cover.
There are several ways to improve your reputation and make people like you, and the general idea is simple – be nice, be good, and be kind.
How To Improve Reputation
Do Not Commit Crimes
The first way to avoid reducing your reputation is by not committing any crimes. Simple as that. Crimes can have a bad influence on your reputation and will potentially get you into multiple troubles.
So before stealing, lockpicking, or killing innocent people, think to yourself – do you really have to do that? If the answer is yes, then you are choosing to take on the bad guy role in this game.

Complete Quests
The easiest way to improve reputation is by completing quests. There are numerous characters who will request your help in either finding a specific item, helping them out of a crisis, and so on.
All these quests help you directly boost your reputation.
Be Nice During Conversation
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is filled with choices that you will make during conversations or cutscenes, and this is a core part of the RPG elements in the game. So picking the right dialogue option when responding can help you either boost or ruin your reputation.
For example, you will usually be given multiple dialogue choices. Take a second to read them and make sure to pick the nicest one. This will help you in the long run.
Trade Fairly
Sometimes, a simple purchase you make with a trader without haggling too much can slightly boost your reputation. This shows appreciation to the traders, and they might even offer you discounted items in the future.
While the gain might be small, the more you do this, the better reputation accumulation you will gain among traders.
Do Your Part During The Random Encounters
When you fast travel from one location to another, or simply travel a long distance, you will come across random events. Among these, you might find some innocent people struggling against bandits or being attacked by an animal.
Do your part and help them survive the encounter. This is one of the best ways to not only boost your reputation but also spread it among others.
You never know which village or town the stranger you helped came from, and they might actually speak well of you behind your back.
Pay Indulgences
If you want to gain favor with the holy men, then these last two options are your best bet. Paying Indulgences means donating or paying a small fee into one of the boxes found in different villages to ask for forgiveness.
This donation will help you gain more reputation within the holy men social category, and they will spread the word among civilians.
Go On A Pilgrimage
Alternatively, you can do this by seeking a priest in one of the locations, such as Father Nicodemus in Trosky Castle. By interacting with him or any other priest, you can ask to undertake a pilgrimage.
The priest will then direct you to a shrine where you need to pray to gain absolution.
This will have the same effect as Paying Indulgences, increasing your reputation more toward the holy men, which will then be spread among the people.
