Once Henry and Hans escape the bandits near the pond, things only seem to go from bad to worse for the pair in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s third main story quest, Fortuna. After the dramatic events of the Easy Riders quest, Fortuna begins with a heady cutscene showing Hans dragging your character, Henry, through the woods as he deliriously remembers past events. On waking, you find yourself in the hut of a herbwoman named Bozhena, who helps you and Hans with your wounds. While Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Fortuna quest introduces you to the basics of healing, alchemy, and grave digging, for the most part, it’s up to you to figure out how to complete the objectives and find what you need from a few pointers.

How to Stop Bleeding, Eat, and Have a Wash

A washing trough in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Fortuna quest

During the first part of Fortuna, the only thing to do is to choose your preferred dialogue options as Hans leads you through the woods. After the cutscene ends and you speak with Bozhena upon waking, the first step is to stop your wounds from bleeding by applying fresh bandages. Fortunately, the bandages are already in your inventory, so you only need to equip them. Press the I button to access your inventory (if you’re playing the game on a PC) and press E on the bandages to equip them (the red shield next to the item indicates if you have it equipped). Make sure you use the slider to equip at least four bandages to cover all wounded parts and stop the bleeding.

Next up, it’s time to get fed and watered, literally. Eat the soup from the pot on the table in front by pressing E to interact with it. Once you’ve eaten enough, head outside and use the circular wash trough on the left by the door to clean away the dirt and grime from your adventures and injuries. Afterward, chat with Bozhena back inside her hut to learn how Hans is doing. He’ll need your help with a healing potion to get better, but you’ll need to track down the necessary herbs.

Where to Find Chamomile and Sage

To find camomile and sage, turn left when exiting Bozhena’s hut and follow the path behind the hut, traveling left to the meadow Bozhena mentioned, as marked on the map above. Use the E button to gather chamomile, triggering a short cutscene of Henry picking the herbs.

You can spot the chamomile by its white petals and yellow center and the purple-colored sage nearby. Look around until you spot the scroll markers that label the herbs, making them easier to find and identify.

While you only need one of each, it’s best to harvest as much chamomile and sage as possible, as they may come in handy later. You can also harvest other herbs in the meadow, such as Valerian.

Once you’ve grabbed plenty of camomile and sage, head back the way you came to return to Bozhena’s hut. When approaching the back entrance, you will hear some unfriendly voices – it seems the pursuer from earlier wasn’t alone, and his two friends aren’t happy that he’s dead. You could try to reason with them, but they’ll probably attack you outright if you didn’t bury the body already.

Before revealing yourself, grab and equip a weapon, such as the Work Axe to the right of the back entrance, and use the combat skills you learned from Hans earlier in the tutorial to take them out. Remember to block and follow up with attacks to avoid taking too much damage and getting killed.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – How to Pickpocket

Crime is always an option in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and if you want to pick pockets or crack open locks, here’s how.

How to Brew the Camomile Decoction

Once all attackers are dead, speak to Bozhena to learn the basics of alchemy in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, who teaches you how to make the Chamomile Decoction recipe for Hans using the herbs you gathered. Head inside the outbuilding and interact with the book on your right next to the Alchemy Bench to start alchemy. To make the brew, follow Bozhena’s verbal instructions, summarized as follows:

  • Pour the wine into the cauldron.
  • Move the cauldron down onto the flame and use the bellows to boil the mixture before moving the cauldron up.
  • Select the chamomile and sage herbs from your inventory.
  • Add two handfuls of camomile to the cauldron from the sack on the shelf. Then, turn the sandglass.
  • Lower the cauldron onto the fire. Turn the sandglass again when the liquid bubbles. Then, take the cauldron off the flames by moving it up.
  • Grab one handful of sage and grind it using the mortar and pestle. Then, add the sage to the cauldron.
  • Take a phial from the shelf on the left and use it to pour out the remedy from the cauldron. Then, exit the table.

If you’ve done everything correctly, you’ll successfully brew the Strong Chamomile brew. Exit the Alchemy Bench to speak with Bozhena, and it will be time to finally get rid of those bodies piling up or get some sleep if you’ve already done so.

How to Bury the Bodies – the Corpse, Mikesh, and Kozliek (Optional Fortuna Objective)

While you won’t get anything other than Bozhena’s thanks for burying the bodies as an optional objective, it enables you to familiarize yourself with the game’s grave-digging tools and mechanics.

Make sure you loot the corpses first. Then, grab the spade propped up near Bozhena’s herb garden just in front of her hut, as pictured above. You can only use the spade in certain dig spots, as indicated by a text notification on the bottom right of the screen that says ‘Start Digging.’

Once at a suitable dig spot, press the E button to trigger a short cutscene of Henry digging a grave with the spade. It’s also much easier to find and dig three grave spots first rather than lug the corpses around. You can find around three grave spots by the narrow stream in front of the hut, as pictured above. It’s also helpful to place a map marker so you know where to carry the bodies in case you forget, but graves are also marked on the map with the letter ‘G’ when close enough. Hold the E button to bury a body once you’ve carried it to a grave.

After burying the bodies, clean yourself up again using the trough and head inside Bozhena’s hut, interacting with Henry’s bed to use the time wheel to sleep till morning. You can also tell Bozhena you dealt with the bodies if you completed this part of the quest.

After waking up and chatting with Pavlena, join the rest of the group outside for breakfast. Finish any conversations and speak with Hans to complete the Fortuna quest, triggering a cutscene of you and Hans venturing to your next destination, the town of Troskowitz, where things kick off again, and the main part of the game begins.

Unfortunately, you’ll have to return the Work Axe and Spade to Bozhena before leaving for Troskowitz, which are automatically removed from your inventory when completing Fortuna. However, you’ll also get the Weak Saviour Schnapps potion, providing another way for you to save your progress besides sleeping in a bed or exiting the game.
