Alchemy lets Henry turn various herbs and materials he finds on his journey into very useful potions in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. While other games would have the whole alchemy process happen in just a menu, here the process is much more involved.
Alchemy is a skill that can be leveled up over time with new perks being purchased, though there will also be a decent learning curve during the beginning of the game when trying to figure out this complex system. Here’s everything you need to know about Alchemy to get started and master it.

Herbalism & Drying Materials In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
The first step in getting into Alchemy is to pick flowers and herbs throughout the world. While you can choose only those you need for a specific recipe, herbs and flowers usually have a low weight letting you carry a lot without issue. Freshly picked flowers and herbs will be of a higher quality if you immediately take them to an Alchemy bench and use them otherwise they will quickly spoil. Your other option is to dry them to make them last longer.
By heading to a Drying Rack, you can instantly dry out flowers and herbs making them low quality but keeping them good for much longer. It’s important to decide when you are gathering herbs and when you choose to brew, as you’ll want to use high-quality ingredients but also don’t want to waste your time foraging by letting things spoil.
Getting & Using Potion Recipes In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
At the start of the game, you’ll only have access to one recipe in your book, with a second being added right after the game truly begins letting you brew the potion to save the game. From there, you’ll need to either find new recipes around the world or simply purchase them from Apothecary stores. Once you get a recipe, use it in your inventory to add it to your recipe book.
Whenever you find an Alchemy Bench, look off to the right to see your recipe book and turn the page to the recipe you want. While the right is a flow chart showing the steps, the left page will be written out directions.

Potion Quality Explained
The quality of the potion you make is determined by the quality of the ingredients used and how perfectly you follow the recipe. Higher-quality potions are much more effective, so it’s important to use fresh ingredients when possible and be sure to follow potion recipes to the word, otherwise, the resulting potion may not be as strong as others.
